    Abstract

    Genetika adalah materi pelajaran yang penting dalam pembelajaran sains di sekolah. Menurut peneliti sebelumnya, pembelajaran genetika melalui pendekatan konsep, dapat diterapkan dengan strategi peta konsep. Peta konsep akan menyatakan hubungan antar konsep dalam bentuk proposisi-proposisi yang dapat membantu guru untuk mengetahui konsep-konsep yang telah dikuasai oleh siswa. Dalam pembelajaran genetika, terdapat tiga model konseptual yang saling berkaitan, Pertama adalah model konseptual genetik, Kedua adalah model konseptual meiosis, dan yang ketiga adalah model konseptual molekuler. Pada model konseptual molekuler ini siswa seharusnya mampu memahami bahwa sifat fisik pada individu merupakan hasil dari mekanisme seluler dan molekuler. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pemahaman siswa tentang model konseptual molekuler pada materi sintesis protein melalui peta konsep, dengan berlandaskan tuntutan silabus mata pelajaran biologi kurikulum 2013. Penelitian deskriptif ini dilakukan di salah satu sekolah di kota Bandung. Partisipan yang terlibat dari penelitian ini terdiri dari 16 siswa laki-laki dan 22 siswa perempuan kelas XII. Data penelitian dijaring melalui peta konsep dan tes uraian sebagai hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman siswa terkait model konseptual molekuler pada materi sintesis protein masih tergolong rendah.;---Genetics is the most important material in science lesson at school. The previous study postulated that learning genetic material with conceptual approach was able to be applied by using concept map strategy. This strategy would determine the relationship between certain concept in the form of proposition which could help teachers find out lots of concept the students have mastered. There are 3 correlated models in learning genetic material, including genetic-conceptual, meiosis-conceptual, and molecular-conceptual models. The model of molecular concept depicts cellular mechanism and molecular in which genes may bring physical effect within individuals. This research paper aimed to investigate the use of concept map in determining Twelfth-graders students’ understanding on molecular-conceptual model particularly in protein-synthesis material. The descriptive study was conducted at a senior high school in Bandung. Participants being involved in this research consisted of 16 male students and 22 female students of twelfth-graders. The data of the study were collected by administering paper-based test in the form of concept map and essays. The study revealed that the use of written test, designing concept map, led to students’ better understanding on molecular concept of protein synthesis.
    The result of this study indicate that student understanding about the model of molecular concept particularly in protein synthesis remained low.
