Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul “Republik Persatuan Arab: sebuah kajian historis tahun 1958-1961”. Hal yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah ketertarikan peneliti terhadap sebuah negara uni Republik Persatuan Arab (RPA), yaitu sebuah negara gabungan antara Mesir dan Suriah. Kemudian disusunlah empat pertanyaan pokok penelitian, yaitu (1) Apa yang melatarbelakangi pembentukan Republik Persatuan Arab? (2) Bagaimana perkembangan Republik Persatuan Arab dari tahun 1958-1961? (3) Tantangan apa yang dihadapi oleh Mesir dan Suriah dalam pembentukan Republik Persatuan Arab? (4) Bagaimana reaksi dalam negeri dan luar negeri setelah terbentuknya Republik Persatuan Arab? Tujuan utama dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengaji tentang keberlangsungan Republik Persatuan Arab selam tiga tahun (1958-1961). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis dengan langkah pokok di antaranya heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Pembahasan yang dilakukan dalam penulisan skripsi ini menggunakan teknik studi literatur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari studi literatur, pembentukan Republik Persatuan Arab tidak bisa dipisahkan dari perkembangan paham Pan-Arab di Timur Tengah. Gamal Abdul Nasser dari Mesir serta Partai Ba’ats dari Suriah menjadi aktor utama pembentukan negara Republik Persatuan Arab. Republik Persatuan Arab merupakan sebuah wujud nyata dari cita-cita Pan-Arabime, yaitu sebuah negara tunggal meliputi wilayah jazirah Arab yang menaungi seluruh bangsa Arab atas dasar kesamaan bahasa dan budaya tanpa memandang perbedaan agama. Tujuan dari pembentukan Republik Persatuan Arab adalah untuk mempersatukan seluruh negara-negara di Timur Tengah dan menghapus segala perbedaan serta perselisihan antara negara-negara Arab. Skripsi ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya tulisan mengenai sejarah kawasan Timur Tengah di Departemen Pendidikan Sejarah.

This research paper entitled “United Arab Republic: a historical study of the 1958-1961”. Things aspects influenced the research is the interest of researchers towards a State of the Union the United Arab Republic (RPA), a united state between Egypt and Syria. Then compiled the four principal research questions, namely (1) What aspects influenced the formation of the United Arab Republic? (2) How the development of the United Arab Republic 1958-1961? (3) What the challenges faced by Egypt and Syria in the formation of the United Arab Republic? (4) How reaction domestically and abroad after the formation of the United Arab Republic? The main purpose of this research was done to recite about the sustainability of the United Arab Republic during three years (1958-1961). This research uses historical method with the subject matter of which heuristics, critique, interpretation, and historiography. The discussion is conducted in writing a research paper using the technique of literature. Based on the research results obtained from the study of literature, the formation of the United Arab Republic could not be separated from the development of the Pan-Arab in the Middle East. Gamal Abdul Nasser from Egypt and the Ba'ats Party from Syria became the leading actor formation of the United Arab Republic. United Arab Republic is a real manifestation of the ideals of Pan-Arabime, i.e. a State of the Union of Arab encompassing the region of the Arabian Peninsula that houses the entire Arab nation on the basis of language and cultural similarities regardless of religious differences. The purpose of the formation of the United Arab Republic was to unite all over countries in the Middle East and remove all the differences and disputes among Arab countries. This research paper is expected to enrich the scientific papers on the regional history of the Middle East in the Department of historical education.
