    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertolak pada pendidikan yang diketahui dapat memberikan pengetahuan dalam membentuk sikap dan kepedulian masyarakat terhadap lingkungan serta merupakan salah satu bentuk upaya konservasi yang dapat dilakukan dalam aspek kehidupan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pendidikan pengetahuan lingkungan masyarakat Ammatoa Kajang mengenai konservasi lingkungan di masyarakat suku Kajang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan instrument kuisioner, wawancara, observasi lapangan dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah tetua adat, lembaga dan masyarakat serta pasangan orang tua dan anak sejumlah 30 orang dengan rincian anak-anak 15 orang dan orangtua 15 orang di suku Ammatoa. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan yang ditempuh masyarakat Ammatoa mengenai lingkungan bersumber dari Ammatoa dan orang tua yang didasarkan pada aturan adat Kajang. Pendidikan formal di sekolah juga berperan dalam pembentukan perilaku masyarakat terhadap konservasi lingkungan. Pendidikan yang ditempuh masyarakat Ammatoa mengajarkan tentang pentingnya menjaga kelestarian alam. Masyarakat harus menjaga alam karena alam telah memberikan mereka kehidupan. Apabila masyarakat tidak melindungi alam maka kerusakan dan kerugian akan diterima oleh masyarakat. Hutan sebagai sumber daya alam masyarakat Ammatoa dijaga ketat oleh masyarakat Kajang, salah satunya adalah dengan membagi hutan kedalam tiga tingkatan yaitu hutan produksi, hutan pertengahan dan hutan keramat.;---This research aimed at education is known to provide knowledge in shaping attitudes and public awareness of the environment and it is one of from of conservation efforts that can be done in aspects of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the environmental knowledge education of community of Ammatoa-Kajang about environmental conservation in communities of Kajang tribel. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative by using questionnaire instrument, interviews, observation and documentation. The subjects in this study was the Indegenous elders, institutions, and the couple of the parents and children of up to 30 people with details 15 people of the children and 15 people of the parents in Ammatoa tribe. The research showed that the education pursued of society of Ammatoa about environmental sourced from Ammatoa and parents based on the rules of the Kajang. The formal education of the schools also play a role in shaping people’s behavior towards environmental conservation. The education pursued of Ammatoa society teaches about the importance of conserving natural. Society must keep the nature because it has given them life. If people do not protect nature, the damage and losses will be accepted by the community. Forest As a natural resources of Ammatoa community guarded closely by Kajang community, one of which is to devide the forest into three levels, production forest, middle forest, and sacred forest.
