Abstract

Dalam upaya menemukan strategi pembelajaran yang tepat untuk menurunkan beban kognitif, peneliti membandingkan dua strategi pembelajaran yang berbasis minds-on dan hands-on. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan beban kognitif siswa pada materi sistem ekskresi dengan menggunakan strategi One Step Approach dan Two Step Approah. Strategi One Step Approach terdiri dari empat fase yaitu fase prelaboratory, theory, experiment dan interprertation. Sedangkan strategi Two Sep Approach terdiri dari lima fase yaitu fase prelaboratory, theory, short discussion, experiment dan interpretation. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 76 siswa SMA kelas XI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode true-experimental dengan desain penelitian post test only control group design. Beban kognitif pada siswa dilihat dari tiga komponen beban kognitif yaitu Instrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL), Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) dan Germane Cognitive Load (GCL). Berdasarkan uji statisika, hasil penelitian yang ditemukan menunjukkan adanya perbedaan beban kognitif antara strategi One Step Approach dan Two Step Approah. Strategi Two Step Approah mampu menurunkan beban kognitif siswa lebih baik dibandingkan dengan strategi One Step Approach. Hal ini disebabkan adanya fase minds-on short discussion pada strategi Two Step Approach yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan kritis siswa.;--- In an effort to find appropriate learning strategies to reduce the cognitive load, researchers compared two strategies based learning minds-on and hands-on. This study aimed to compare the cognitive load of students on the material excretory system using strategies One Step and Two Step Approach Approah. Strategy One Step Approach consists of four phases is prelaboratory, theory, experiment and interprertation. While the strategy Two September Approach consists of five phases is prelaboratory, theory, short discussion, experimentation and interpretation. This study was conducted in 76 high school students in class XI. The method used is the method of true-experimental research design post-test only control group design. Cognitive load on students' views of the three components of cognitive load is Instrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL), Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) and Germane Cognitive Load (GCL). Based statisika test, the results were found to indicate a difference in cognitive load between strategy One Step Approach and Two Step Approach. Strategy Two Step Approah able to reduce the cognitive load of students is better than the One Step Approach strategy. This is due to the phase minds-on short discussion on the Two Step Approach strategy that is able to improve students' critical and creative thinking.
