Abstract

Tunagrahita merupakan bagian dari individu yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus dengan kecerdasan di bawah rata-rata, sehingga kemampuan kognitif mereka mengalami keterlambatan jika dibandingkan dengan individu pada umumnya yang seusianya. Namun, anak tunagrahita sama seperti anak-anak lainnya akan mengalami tumbuh kembang baik secara jasmani maupun rohani, begitu pula ketika masa puber. Mereka tidak dapat mengontrol dorongan seksualnya dan kurang mendapatkan pemahaman mengenai perilaku seksual secara optimal. Program pendidikan seks di sekolah belum mengakomodasi kebutuhan anak tunagrahita terutama pada saat remaja. Program pendidikan seksual di rumah maupun di sekolah belum mengakomodasi kebutuhan anak tunagrahita terutama pada saat remaja. Adanya pendidikan seks hanya berupa peringatan-peringatan atau hukuman-hukuman yang bersifat situasional. Peringatan atau pemberian pemahaman tentang pendidikan seks tersebut tidak dilakukan secara berkelanjutan. Sementara itu, anak tunagrahita dalam menerima dan memehami sesuatu perlu dilakukan secara konsisten dan berulang, bahkan perlu dilakukan sedini mungkin. Oleh karena itu, anak tunagrahita perlu diberikan strategi preventif untuk mencegah perilaku seksual yang akan muncul sesuai dengan kondisinya sedini mungkin secara konsisten. Hal ini untuk mempersiapkan diri anak tunagrahita menuju perkembangan fisik dan psikologis secara wajar dan bertanggung jawab. Peran orangtua sangat penting dalam hal ini, dan pemahaman orangtua pun harus detail dalam mendidik dan memberikan pendidikan seks bagi anak tunagrahita sedini mungkin.;--- Mentally retarded is part of the individuals who have special needs with intelligence below average, so that they experience delays in cognitive abilities compared to other children at their age. However, mentally retarded child will also experience growth both physically and spiritually, also puberty like other children. They can not control the sexual drive and lack of understanding about sexual behavior. Sexual education programs at home and at school do not accommodate the needs of mentally retarded child, especially during adolescence. Their only sexual education are warnings or penaltiesis, which is situationally. There is no continuously warning or briefing about sexual education. Meanwhile, mentally retarded child needs repetition and consistency in receiving and understanding something. Therefore, preventative strategy for mentally retarded child is needed to prevent sexual behavior that will appear according to their conditions, as early as possible and consistently. This strategy is to prepare mentally retarded child into a normal and responsible development, both the physical and psychological. The understanding and role of parents is very important in this strategy, parents also have to detail in educating and providing sexual education for mentally retarded child as early as possible.
