Abstract
Usaha pemerintah dalam membangun desa berbasis pertanian adalah melalui pengembangan agropolitan. Kesiapan petani merupakan faktor penting dalam upaya pengembangan agropolitan di Kecamatan Cisurupan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik petani dan kesiapan petani dalam menghadapi pengembangan agropolitan di Kecamatan Cisurupan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan survei. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Pengolahan data menggunakan analisis persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik petani diantaranya petani berusia produktif dengan pendidikan terakhir SD. Petani memiliki lahan kurang dari 0,5 Ha dan status lahan milik pribadi. Petani menanam komoditas hortikultura unggulan seperti kentang, cabe, kubis, tomat, dan lainnya. Modal yang dikeluarkan <Rp. 5.000.000,- dengan pendapatan >Rp.5.000.000,- per satu kali musim panen. Kesiapan petani menunjukkan petani cukup siap dilihat dari usahanya mencari informasi baru. Berdasarkan pengelolaan budidaya hortikultura serta pemasaran hasil produk menunjukkan petani siap. Dalam pengelolaan budidaya, petani kurang memperhatikan kondisi pH dan suhu yang cocok untuk menanam komoditasnya serta dalam aspek pemasaran petani langsung menjualnya kepada tengkulak dengan harga yang relatif murah. Sedangkan dalam aspek kerjasama, petani dinyatakan belum siap. Hal ini karena kurangnya kerjasama antar petani begitupun dengan penyuluh yang terlihat dari aspek pemasaran serta penyediaan sarana produksi yang dilakukan secara individu serta pertemuan rutin yang jarang dilakukan oleh petani dan penyuluh. Maka, diperlukan usaha untuk meningkatkan kemampuan budidaya pertanian dan kemampuan beragrobisnis melalui penyuluhan yang rutin dilakukan serta pengendalian harga komoditi oleh pihak yang berwenang untuk meningkatkan kesiapan petani dalam menghadapi pengembangan agropolitan di Kecamatan Cisurupan Kabupaten Garut. ---------- The effort of government in developing village which have a base agriculture is through development of agropolitan. Readiness of farmers is an important factor in the development of agropolitan in district Cisurupan. The aim of research to identify the characteristics of farmers and farmers' readiness in face of agropolitan development in district Cisurupan. The method used descriptive method with survey approach. The technique of collecting data using interviews, observation and documentation study. Analysing data used percentage analysis. The results showed characteristics of farmer that farmer are productive age with low education. Farmers have land less than 0.5 hectares and all are their own. Farmers plant horticultural commodities such as potatoes, peppers, cabbage, tomatoes, and more. Farmers spent <IDR. 5.000.000 for farming outcome with income >IDR 5.000.000 per one season. Readiness of farmers showed farmers sufficiently ready seen from his searching for new information. Based on management of horticultural cultivation and marketing of the product showed the farmers are ready. In the management of cultivation, farmers have less attention to pH and temperature conditions which suitable for growing commodities and in the marketing aspect of farmers directly sell to middlemen in a relatively cheap price. Meanwhile, in the aspect of cooperation, the farmers is not yet ready. These matters are lack of cooperation among farmers and also with trainer which seen from the aspect of marketing and supply of production media is done individually and the routine meeting which rarely attended by the farmer ang the trainer. Thus, needed some effort to increase agricultural cultivation and ability of agribussines through a routine training and price commodity controlled by the authorities to increase the readiness of farmers in face of agropolitan development in district Cisurupan Garut Regency.
