Abstract

ABSTRACT This study describes manners aspects of Sundanese manners with reference to Sundanese culture named babasan and paribasa. Babasan and paribasa itself are products of Sundanese culture which are formed in phrases and clauses or sentences that conveyed from generation to generation for a long time as a way to educate their fellow Sundanese people in terms of social interaction. In the process, this research uses descriptive analytical method as a way to get an overview of the researched aspects. The research primary data are babasan and paribasa which have been documented by the authors of Sundanese culture. Then the data is analyzed based on the study of the meaning and the researcher’s intervention of the meaning. In its passage, the researcher found several babasan and paribasa that have meaning values of manners for social interaction. The aspects of manners values obtained include: 1) aspect of language manners, 2) aspects of kinetic manners, and 3) aspect of social relationship manners. Based on the analysis, it’s found, that there is the pattern in the manners of Sundanese people that includes the three aspects that must be present simultaneously in a social interaction. The pattern is summarized in five terms namely: 1) wiwaha, 2) wibawa, 3) wirasa, 4) wirahma, and 5) wiraga. ---------- Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan aspék-aspék tatakrama masyarakat Sunda dengan merujuk pada budaya babasan dan paribasa Sunda. Babasan dan paribasa Sunda sendiri merupakan produk budaya masyarakat Sunda yang berwujud dalam bentuk frasa dan klausa atau kalimat yang disampaikan secara turun-temurun sejak lama sebagai salahsatu cara masyarakat Sunda dalam mengedukasi saudaranya dalam hal berintraksi sosial. Dalam prosesnya penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif sebagai cara untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang aspék yang dimaksud. Adapun data yang digunakan adalah data primer yang merupakan babasan dan paribasa Sunda yang telah didokumentasikan oleh para penulis budaya Sunda. Kemudian data tersebut dianalisis berdasarkan kajian makna dan intervensi peneliti terhadap makna tersebut. Dalam perjalanan panjangnya, ditemukan beberapa babasan dan paribasa Sunda yang memiliki makna nilai-nilai tatakrama untuk interaksi sosial. Di antara aspék nilai tatakrama yang diperoleh di antaranya adalah: 1) aspék tatakrama berbahasa; 2) aspék tatakrama kinetis; dan 3) aspék hubungan sosial. Setelah dianalisis dan dideskripsikan, selanjutnya ditemukan hubungan ketiga aspek tersebut sebagai pola tatakrama masarakat Sunda berdasarkan babasan dan paribasa.
