Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Penerapan Metode Generating Interaction Between Schemata and Text (GIST) dalam Pembelajaran Membaca Pemahaman Teks Eksplanasi Kompleks (Penelitian Eksperimen Kuasi pada Peserta Didik Kelas XI SMA Negeri 13 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015)” dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan peserta didik dalam menemukan gagasan utama dan menyimpulkan setiap paragraf dalam membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi kompleks. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji efektivitas metode GIST dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi kompleks. Sampel dalam penelitian ini masing-masing berjumlah 30 siswa baik di kelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen kuasi dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua perlakuan pembelajaran membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi kompleks dengan metode GIST yang dilakukan di kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode GIST efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi kompleks siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 13 Bandung. Nilai rata-rata siswa di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada pascates menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda. Siswa kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dan nilai rata-rata lebih besar dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan prates dan pascates diperoleh t_hitung≥t_tabel atau 2,802 ≥ 2,000. Hal ini berarti Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, atau dengan perkataan lain terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa di kelas eksperimen dan siswa di kelas kontrol. ---------- The research, entitled "Method of Generating Application of Interaction Between schemata and Text (GIST) in Reading Comprehension Learning Complex explanatory text (Quasi Experimental Research on Students Class XI SMAN 13 Bandung Academic Year 2014/2015)" motivated by the difficulties learners in finding ideas The main and conclude each paragraph in the reading comprehension of complex explanatory text. The purpose of this study to test the effectiveness of methods of GIST in learning reading comprehension complex explanatory text. The sample in this study each well were 30 students in the experimental class and control class. Samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. The method used in this study is a quasi experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. This study consisted of two treatment of learning in reading comprehension of complex explanatory text with GIST method performed in the experimental class. The results showed that the method of GIST effectively used in learning to read explanatory text comprehension complex class XI student of SMAN 13 Bandung. The average value of students in the experimental class and control class in the post-test showed different results. Experimental class students has increased significantly and the average value is greater than the control class. Based on the pre-test and post-test calculation results obtained t_hitung≥t_tabel or 2.802 ≥ 2.000. This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is received, or in other words there is a significant difference between the reading comprehension of students in the experimental class and the students in the control class.
