Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hasil penggunaan media visualisasi pada pembelajaran hidrokarbon yang dilihat pengaruhnya terhadap model mental dan penguasaan konsep siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak 40 orang siswa kelas X di sebuah SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis berupa essay untuk model mental dan pilihan berganda beralasan untuk penguasaan konsep. Adapun untuk melihat respon dan kelayakan media menggunakan media angket dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model mental siswa pada level makroskopik, yaitu: siswa kategori tinggi (80,6%), siswa kategori sedang (52,2%), dan siswa kategori rendah (25%). Pada level submikroskopik, yaitu: siswa kategori tinggi (65,6%), siswa kategori sedang (50%), dan siswa kategori rendah (35%). Pada level simbolik, yaitu: siswa kategori tinggi (70,4%), siswa kategori sedang (60,9%), dan siswa kategori rendah (50%). Kemampuan penguasaan konsep secara keseluruhan, yaitu: siswa kategori tinggi (83,5%), siswa kategori sedang (70,0%), dan siswa kategori rendah (46,5%). Guru dan siswa menanggapi positif terhadap implementasi media visualisasi pada pembelajaran hidrokarbon terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran, karena dapat meningkatkan minat dan motivasi siswa serta dapat membangun konsep siswa secara utuh. Kata kunci: Media visualisasi, Pembelajaran Hidrokarbon, Model Mental, dan Penguasaan Konsep. This study was intended to analyze the results of the use of media visualization in hydrocarbon learning seen its influence towards students’ mental model and conceptual mastery. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive with a research subject as many as 40 students of class X in a Senior High School in Purwakarta. Data were collected through a written test in the form of an essay on mental models and multiple-choice grounded forconceptual mastery. Then for the tools used to see the media response and feasibility were the questionnaire and observation. The results showed that students' mental models on the macroscopic level, specifically: high category students(80.6%), medium category students(52.2%), and low categories students (25%). In the submicroscopic level, specifically: high category students(65.6%), medium category students (50%), and low categories students (35%). At the symbolic level, specifically: high category students(70.4%), medium category students (60.9%), and low categories students (50%). The ability to master the concept as a whole, namely: high category students (83.5%), medium category students (70.0%), and low categories students (46.5%). Teachers and students responded positively to the implementation of media visualization on learning of hydrocarbons on the implementation of learning, because it can increase the interest and motivation of students and can build students' concept as a whole.
