Abstract

Globalization supported by advancements in information, communication, and technology (ICT) has an impact on the national ideology, religion, culture, values, and identity. Social studies education based on local wisdom contributes to the development and internalization of society’s noble values. The research explores the values of struggles upheld by Banjar community in South Kalimantan in the Physical Revolution Period (1945-1950) as a revitalization study and then implements the values through social studies teaching and learning. This qualitative research adopted ethnopedagogical approach, combining the historical, ethnographic, and pedagogic methods with the subjects consisting of social studies teachers, students, academicians, and Banjar social figures and community members. Data were collected through observation, interview, and documentary analysis and tested with Miles and Huberman model. The research finds: (1) The praxis of social studies teaching and learning based on value education and contextual local values in Banjar community has not been optimal, in terms of objectives, materials, process, and assessment; (2) The “17 May Proclamation” as the embodiment of Banjar community’s patriotism and loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia is the local wisdom with strategic functions for the development of social studies education curriculum; (3) Banjar community’s values of struggles in the physical revolution period are made the philosophy of life in the social life of Banjar people that are relevant to Banjar cultural values, both in the socio-cultural system and literary system (expression); (4) The transformation of Banjar community’s values of struggle through the teaching and learning of social studies employing the strategy of lesson study has resulted in observable behaviors, in the forms of enthusiasm, positive responses, and high curiosity about Banjar history and culture, as shown by model teachers, students, and observers during and after the teaching and learning process. Keywords: Transformation, values of struggle, social studies education, ethnopedagogy, Banjar community and culture Globalisasi didukung kemajuan teknologi, informasi, dan komunikasi (TIK) berdampak terhadap ideologi, agama, budaya, nilai-nilai dan jati diri bangsa. Pendidikan IPS berbasis kearifan lokal berkontribusi bagi pengembangan dan internalisasi nilai-nilai luhur masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggali nilai-nilai kejuangan masyarakat Banjar di Kalimantan Selatan pada periode Revolusi Fisik (1945-1950) sebagai kajian revitalisasi dan mengimplementasikannya melalui pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnopedagogi memadukan metode historis, etnografis dan pedagogis dengan subyek penelitian guru IPS, peserta didik, akademisi, tokoh dan masyarakat Banjar. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui pengamatan, wawancara dan studi dokumen dengan pengujian data memakai model Miles and Huberman. Penelitian menemukan: (1) Praksis pembelajaran IPS berbasis pendidikan nilai dan nilai-nilai lokal kontekstual dalam masyarakat Banjar belum optimal baik pada aspek tujuan, materi, proses dan penilaian; (2) “Proklamasi 17 Mei” merupakan penjelmaan nilai-nilai kesetiaan (patriotisme) masyarakat Banjar terhadap RI yang merupakan kearifan lokal dan memiliki fungsi strategis terhadap pengembangan kurikulum Pendidikan IPS; (3) Nilai-nilai kejuangan masyarakat Banjar pada periode revolusi fisik dijadikan sebagai filosofi hidup dalam kehidupan sosial urang Banjar yang relevan dengan nilai budaya Banjar baik dalam bentuk sistem sosial budaya maupun sastra (ungkapan); (4) transformasi nilai-nilai kejuangan masyarakat Banjar melalui pembelajaran IPS dengan strategi lesson study menghasilkan perilaku yang dapat diamati berupa sikap antusias, respons positif, dan rasa ingin tahu yang mendalam tentang sejarah dan budaya Banjar oleh guru model, peserta didik dan pengamat selama dan setelah proses pembelajaran berlangsung.
