Abstract

Budidaya bawang merah yang ada di Desa Sidamulya berada di daerah dengan ketingian 700-750 meter diatas permuaan laut. Idealnya penanaman bawang merah adalah 10-250 mdpl. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui apa yang melatar belakangi petani tetap menanam bawang merah pada kondisi yang kurang ideal. Selain itu apakah dengan membudidayakan bawang merah mempengaruhi tingkat kesejahteraan petaninya. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskripsi dengan teknik survey. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwapenanaman bawang merah dilakukan pada daerah tegalan. Petani memanfaatkan air hujan sebagai sumber pengairan, kemampuan lahan bawang merah di Desa Sidamulya masuk ke kelas S2 artinya masuk pada kelas sedang. Hampir keseluruhan luas lahan yang dimiliki petani kurang dari 0,5 Ha dengan pendidikan petani rata-rata lulusan sekolah dasar. Faktor geografis yang mendukung budidaya bawang merah, yaitu curah hujan dan persepsi petani terhadap membudidayakan bawang. Terdapat hubungan kuat kuat antara tingkat kesejahteraan petani dengan budidaya bawang merah yang ditentukan oleh besar kecilnya modal yang dimiliki. Untuk meningkatkan produktivitas, maka perlu pembuatan waduk kecil sebagai sumber pengairan, sehingga pada musim kemarau petani tetap bisa menanam bawang merah. The onion cultivation was in DesaSidamulya where 700-750 meters above the sea surface. Ideally, the onion cultivation is in 10-250 mdpl. The research is accomplished to identify the background of farmers’ decisions to constant in planting onion at unideal condition. Besides, it is whether the onion cultivation affected the level of farmers’ prosperity or not. The method that is used in this research was survey method.The result of the research previewed that the onion cultivation was in moorland. The farmer used rain water as source of watering; the ability of onion soils in DesaSidamulya was S2 class by means classified into middle class. Most of the farmers’ soils were less than 0,5 Ha thus the farmers’ education was graduated from elementary school. The geographical factors which support the onion cultivation were the fall of rain andthe farmers’ perception of onion cultivation. There was a strong relationship between the farmers’ level of prosperity and the onion cultivation which was determined by the amount of the own capital. To improve the production, it needs to make a small reservoir as a source of watering, therefore on dry season the famers could plant the onion commonly.
