Abstract

Masalahutama yang dibahasdalamskripsiiniadalahBagaimanakahPerananpesantrenSyamsulUlumdalamrevolusiKemerdekaan di SukabumiTahun 1945-1946?Masalahutamatersebutterbagikedalamtigapertanyaanpenelitian,yaitu(1)BagaimanakondisiSosialPolitikSukabumisebelumproklamasi? (2)BagaimanaPerkembanganPesantrenSyamsulUlumtahun 1934-1946? (3)BagaimanakontribusidariPesantrenSyamsulUlumdalamRevolusiKemerdekaan di Sukabumi?Metode yang digunakandalam penelitian adalahmetodehistorisyaitu proses mengujidanmenganalisissecarakritisrekamandanpeninggalansertamenuliskannyaberdasarkanfakta yang diperoleh. Teknikpenelitiandilakukandenganmelaluistudikepustakaan, studidokumentasidanwawancarasedangkanpendekatan yang digunakanadalahpendekataninterdisplinerdenganmenempatkansejarahsebagaiilmuutamadibantudenganilmusosiallainnyayaitusosiologi, antropologi, geografi, dansebaginya.Dari penelitianinidijelaskanbahwaadanyaketerhubungandarikembalinyaBelanda yang diboncengi NICA bersamasekutupadatahun 1945 denganperlawananmasyarakat Indonesia khususnyadaerahSukabumidalammempertahankankemerdekaan Indonesia (RevolusiFisik). Di berbagaidaerahmulaidariujungbaratyaitu Medan, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, sampaiMenadoterlibatdalampertempurandenganBelandadanSekutu.Salah satudaerah yang tidakluputdaripertempuranadalahSukabumi.MasyarakatSukabumimelakukanperlawananyang salahsatunyadilakukanolehPesantrenSyamsulUlum.PondokPesantren yang didirikanpadatahun 1933 inimerupakanpondokpesantren yang aktifdalamberjuangmempertahankankemerdekaan Indonesia.PengirimanparasantrikemedanpertempuranmerupakanupayanyatadariPondokPesantreniniuntukmempertahankankemerdekaan Indonesia yang duludiraihdengansusahpayah.Pesantreninimengirimsantri-santrinyadalampertempuranBojongkokosandanpadasaatperangKonvoi yang terjadi di Sukabumi.PondokPesantrenSyamsulUlumpadasaatitumenjadisentralperkembangan agama Islam sertamenjadimarkasbagiparapejuangbangsaini.Pesantreninimembebaskanparasantriuntukbelajardiluarpesantrenpadasaatitu, sepertibelajarilmukenegaraan, ilmupolitik, perjuangandannasionalisme.Selainmengajarkanilmu agama PondokPesantrenini pun mengajarkanilmubeladiriuntukparasantrinya agar parasantrisiapdikirimkemedanpertempuran. This thesis is titled “The Role of SyamsulUlum Islamic Boarding School on Independence Revolution in Sukabumi (1945-1946)”. The main problem which is discussed in this thesis is How the Role of SyamsulUlum Islamic Boarding School on Independence Revolution in Sukabumi 1945-1946? The main problems are divided into three questions, namely (1) How the condition of Social and Politic in Sukabumi before proclamation? (2) How the Development of SyamsulUlum Islamic Boarding School in 1934-1946? (3) How the contribution of SyamsulUlum Islamic Boarding School on Independence Revolution in Sukabumi? Method which is used in this study is historical method, namely, process of examining and analyzing the records and relics critically and rewrites it based on facts which are obtained. Technique of study is conducted by using literature study, documentation study and interviews meanwhile the approach which is used is interdisciplinary approach by placing history as main knowledge which is supplemented by other social sciences. From this study, it is obtained that there is influence and also relationship from the returned of the Dutch which was accompanied by NICA with the allies with the opposition of Indonesian people especially in Sukabumi in defending Indonesia independence (Physical Revolution). One of the institutions which did the opposition against the Dutch was SyamsulUlum Islamic Boarding School in Sukabumi. The Islamic Boarding School which was established in 1933 was the Islamic school which actively in fighting and defending Indonesia independence. The sending of the students to the battlefield was the real effort from this Islamic Boarding School in struggling for independence. This Islamic school also sent their students in Bojongkokosan battle and when there was Convoy war in Sukabumi. SyamsulUlum Islamic Boarding School at that time become the center in developing Islam and become the center for the fighters of this nation. This Islamic boarding school gave the freedom for students to study outside their school at that time, such as, studying politic, struggle and nationalism. Besides teaching religion, this school also taught martial arts for their students so the students would always be ready and prepared if at any times they were sent to the battlefield.
