    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pencapaian kompetensi perbaikan bodi otomotif mahasiswa yang mengikuti program magang di industri otomotif Jepang. Fokus penelitian meliputi kompetensi teknis (hard skill) dalam pengecatan bodi mobil serta kompetensi non teknis (soft skill) yang mendukung kinerja mahasiswa di lingkungan kerja internasional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A. Subjek penelitian adalah dua mahasiswa magang di Honda Cars Hakata, Jepang, pada periode Maret–Agustus 2025. Data diperoleh melalui observasi terhadap keterampilan teknis dan kuesioner untuk mengukur soft skill, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif antar kondisi dengan inspeksi visual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi teknis mahasiswa pada aspek persiapan, pengaplikasian cat dasar, base coat, clear coat, hingga quality check mengalami peningkatan signifikan setelah diberikan intervensi oleh teknisi ahli. Indikator frekuensi, persentase, durasi, latensi, magnitude, trial, dan rate menunjukkan adanya peningkatan efisiensi dan kualitas kerja. Pada aspek non teknis, mahasiswa memperoleh capaian cukup baik pada etika, kerja sama, kepemimpinan, manajemen waktu, kemampuan berpikir, dan pemecahan masalah. Namun, capaian terendah terdapat pada aspek komunikasi dalam bahasa Jepang yang masih menjadi kendala utama. Program magang di Jepang terbukti berkontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kompetensi teknis dan non teknis mahasiswa. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi perguruan tinggi dalam merancang kurikulum vokasi yang relevan dengan standar industri internasional serta mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk bersaing di pasar kerja global. This study aims to describe the achievement of automotive body repair competencies of students participating in an internship program at the automotive industry in Japan. The focus of the research covers technical competencies (hard skills) in car body painting as well as non-technical competencies (soft skills) that support student performance in an international work environment. The research method employed was Single Subject Research (SSR) with A-B-A designs. The subjects were two students undertaking an internship at Honda Cars Hakata, Japan, from March to August 2025. Data were collected through observation of technical skills and questionnaires to measure soft skills, then analyzed using descriptive statistics across conditions with visual inspection. The results showed that students’ technical competencies in preparation, primer application, base coat, clear coat, and quality check improved significantly after receiving interventions from expert technicians. Indicators such as frequency, percentage, duration, latency, magnitude, trial, and rate demonstrated increased efficiency and work quality. In terms of non-technical competencies, students achieved good results in ethics, teamwork, leadership, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving. However, the lowest achievement was found in communication using the Japanese language, which remained a major challenge. The internship program in Japan contributed positively to the improvement of both technical and non-technical competencies. These findings provide important implications for higher education institutions in designing vocational curricula that are aligned with international industry standards and preparing students to compete in the global labor market.
