Abstract

Desa Gesik merupakan wilayah yang memiliki potensi desa wisata setelah dicanangkan sebagai Kampung Produktif dan dikenal sebagai sentra kawasan home industry yang memproduksi berbagai oleh-oleh khas Cirebon. Salah satunya yang terkenal adalah Kerupuk Melarat. Masalah yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah kekhawatiran akan menurunnya eksistensi kerupuk melarat di era modern. Padahal, makanan khas ini memiliki nilai historis, budaya, dan potensi ekonomi yang tinggi. Seiring berkembangnya tren wisata kuliner, kerupuk melarat dapat dijadikan atraksi gastronomi yang unik, sebagai bentuk upaya pelestarian. Namun, pelestariannya memerlukan keterlibatan aktif dari masyarakat lokal agar tetap lestari dan bernilai ekonomis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mengidentifikasi komponen gastronomi pada kerupuk melarat. (2) mengetahui upaya pelestarian kerupuk melarat sebagai atraksi wisata gastronomi di Desa Gesik Kecamatan Tengah Tani Kabupaten Cirebon. (3) mengetahui partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengembangan kerupuk melarat di Desa Gesik Kecamatan Tengah Tani Kabupaten Cirebon (4) menganalisis strategi pengembangan pada kerupuk melarat sebagai atraksi wisata gastronomi di Desa Gesik Kecamatan Tengah Tani Kabupaten Cirebon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif eksploratif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan wawancara, observasi, studi literatur, studi dokumentasi, dan kuesioner. Keberhasilan pelestarian kerupuk melarat sebagai bagian dari wisata gastronomi berbasis community based tourism sangat bergantung pada keterlibatan aktif masyarakat lokal sebagai pemilik tradisi. Oleh karena itu, dukungan dan kolaborasi lintas stakeholder baik pemerintah, akademisi, pelaku pariwisata, maupun komunitas merupakan hal yang esensial untuk menjamin keberlanjutan nilai budaya dan penguatan identitas lokal dalam sektor pariwisata. Gesik Village is an area with significant potential to become a tourist village, following its designation as a Productive Village (Kampung Produktif) and its reputation as a center for home industries producing various Cirebon specialty souvenirs. One of the most well-known products is kerupuk melarat. The problem that underlies this research is the concern over the declining existence of kerupuk melarat in the modern era. Despite its strong historical, cultural, and economic values, this traditional food is at risk of being forgotten. In line with the growing trend of culinary tourism, kerupuk melarat has the potential to be developed as a unique gastronomic attraction as part of preservation efforts. However, its sustainability requires the active involvement of the local community to ensure it remains viable and economically valuable. The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify the gastronomic components of kerupuk melarat, (2) to explore the preservation efforts of kerupuk melarat as a gastronomic tourism attraction in Gesik Village, Tengah Tani Subdistrict, Cirebon Regency, (3) to examine community participation in the development of kerupuk melarat in the same area, and (4) to analyze development strategies for kerupuk melarat as a gastronomic tourism attraction in Gesik Village, Tengah Tani Subdistrict, Cirebon Regency. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-exploratory approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, literature study, documentation, and questionnaires. The success of kerupuk melarat preservation as part of gastronomic tourism through a community-based tourism approach greatly depends on the active involvement of the local community as the tradition bearers. Therefore, support and collaboration across stakeholders including the government, academics, tourism practitioners, and local communities are essential to ensure the sustainability of cultural values and to strengthen local identity within the tourism sector.
