Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa khususnya dalam penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan bulat. Pada hakikatnya, matematika merupakan ilmu deduktif yang bersifat abstrak sedangkan hakikat anak usia Sekolah Dasar itu sendiri masih berada pada tahapan berfikir konkrit. Hal tersebut yang sering melatarbelakangi rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman siswa SD dalam memahami pembelajaran matematika. Media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu alternatif strategi dalam menjembatani perbedaan hakikat tersebut. Media pembelajaran dapat menghantarkan siswa dalam memahami hal-hal yang bersifat abstrak. Akan tetapi penggunaan media pembelajaran yang tidak tepat atau tidak sesuai juga tentunya akan menjadi salah satu penyebab rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa. Pemilihan media pembelajaran itu sendiri harus disesuaikan dengan karakteristik siswa serta materi yang akan dipelajari. Berdasarkan beberapa hal tersebut, dalam penelitian ini peneliti berusaha menerapkan penggunaan media manipulatif berupa Sticky Notes untuk meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa dalam penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan bulat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan menggunakan model penelitian Kemmmis dan McTaggart yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus, dimana masing-masing siklus terdiri dari satu tindakan yang terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yaitu tahap perencanaan, tahap pelaksanaan tindakan dan pengamatan, serta tahap analisis refleksi. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV A SD Negeri 01 Cikidang dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 22 orang dengan sebaran 9 siswa dan 13 siswi. Adapun hasil penelitian pada penelitian ini menunjukan peningkatan pemahaman matematis siswa setiap siklusnya. Hal ini telihat pada peningkatan persentase ketiga indikator pemahaman matematis. Pada indikator pemahaman matematis yang pertama pada siklus I sebanyak 79,54% dan siklus II sebanyak 94,69% siswa sudah dapat mendefinisikan konsep secara tulisan. Dalam indikator yang kedua, pada siklus I 87,87 % dan siklus II mencapai 88,89% siswa sudah dapat menggunakan simbol-simbol untuk mempresentasikan suatu konsep. Selanjutnya, pada indikator pemahaman matematis yang ketiga, siklus I mencapai 86,36% dan siklus II 87,2% siswa sudah dapat mengubah suatu bentuk representasi ke bentuk lainnya. This research was conducted due to students with low mathematical comprehension in addition and subtraction of integers. Literally, the primary students belong to a concrete thinking phase; meanwhile math subject itself belongs to deductive abstract knowledge. This is often caused by the lack of primary students’ comprehension in math learning process, moreover in integers’ material learning which is involved the negative numbering that is hard to be understood. Therefore the use of media in teaching learning process is really useful as an alternative to bridge these theories differences. Hence, the use of the right media which is suitable with students’ characteristic and the material learning learned can benefit students in comprehending this kind of abstract material learning. In this research, the researcher wanted to apply the use of sticky notes as a manipulative media to improve students’ mathematical comprehension in addition and subtraction of integers. The classroom action research by Kemmis and McTaggart type was used in this research. There were two cycles in this research which is included several cycles for each, they are: planning, action and observation, and reflective analyses. The research subject was the iv grade students in SD Negri Cikidang (22 people which were included 9 male students and 13 female students). The result of the research showed that there was an improvement in students’ mathematical comprehension in each cycles. This was shown that there was an increasing percentage of the three mathematical comprehension indicators. There was 79,54% in the first mathematical comprehension indicator, 94,69% of the students were able to define the concept in written way. In the second indicator, in the first (87.87%) and second (88.89%) cycle, the students were able to use symbols to represent a concept. Moreover, in the next indicator, the first (86.36%) and the second (87.2%) cycle, the students were able to modify one of representative things into another form.
