Abstract
Peningkatan kebutuhan pangan mendorong penggunaan pupuk kimia secara berlebihan untuk meningkatkan hasil panen. Namun, hanya sekitar 30% pupuk yang diserap tanaman, sisanya hilang dan menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan. Pupuk pelepasan lambat terkendali (Slow/Controlled Release Fertilizer) dikembangkan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji karakteristik biochar tempurung kelapa serta pengaruh impregnasi terhadap performa agrokimia S/CRF berbasis PVA/Borat/Biochar-KCl. S/CRF disintesis dalam bentuk granula menggunakan hidrogel PVA/Borat, KCl sebagai nutrien, biochar sebagai material berpori dan penampung nutrisi. Penelitian meliputi tahap pirolisis untuk sintesis biochar, sintesis hidrogel dengan metode solution mixing, karakterisasi biochar (XRF, BET, SEM, FTIR), karakterisasi hidrogel dan S/CRF (FTIR). Uji performa agrokimia (swelling ratio/water absorbance, water retention, release behavior nutrien di air dan tanah serta biodegradabilitas). S/CRF berhasil disintesis melalui metode solution mixing menggunakan 85% biochar dan 15% KCl. Hasil XRF dan BET menunjukkan biochar mengandung unsur Mo, Zr, Sr, Rb, Zn, Cu, Fe, Cr, Ca dan K dengan luas permukaan 145,152 m2/g, volume pori 0,172 cm3/g, diameter pori 0,9660 nm. SEM menunjukkan peningkatan waktu impregnasi dapat meningkatkan jumlah KCl dalam pori. Pada biochar FTIR mengidentifikasi gugus O-H, C-H sp3, C=O, C-O, C=C aromatik dan C-C. Karakterisasi hidrogel menunjukkan terbentuknya ikatan silang PVA/Borat. Karakterisasi S/CRF mencerminkan kemiripan struktur material penyusun berupa biochar tempurung kelapa dan hidrogel PVA/Borat. Hasil uji performa S/CRF memiliki rata-rata swelling ratio dan water absorbance maksimum 218,99% dan 227,80%, water retention konstan pada hari ke-5. Penambahan pelapis dan proses impregnasi mampu memperlambat pelepasan KCl. Granula yang dihasilkan telah memenuhi salah satu syarat S/CRF serta memiliki sifat biodegradabilitas baik. Chemical fertilizers are used excessively to increase agricultural productivity, however the use fertilizers by plants only 30%, the rest will be lost and cause environmental pollution. Slow/Controlled Release Fertilizer was created to overcome this problem. This study aims to examine the characteristics of coconut shell biochar and the effect impregnation on the agrochemical performance S/CRF PVA/Borat/Biochar-KCl. S/CRF synthesized in granular, using PVA and borat, KCl as nutrient, biochar as porous material and nutrient reservoir. The research includes the pyrolysis stage for biochar synthesis, hydrogel synthesis by solution mixing method, biochar characterization (XRF, BET, SEM, FTIR), hydrogel and S/CRF characterization (FTIR. Agrochemical performance tests include swelling ratio/water absorbance, water retention, nutrient release behavior in water and soil, and biodegradability. S/CRF was synthesized through the solution mixing method using 85% biochar and 15% KCl. XRF and BET showed biochar contains Mo, Zr, Sr, Rb, Zn, Cu, Fe, Cr, Ca and K with surface area 145.152 m2/g, pore volume 0.172 cm3/g, pore diameter 0.9660 nm. SEM shows increased time increases the amount of KCl in pores. In biochar FTIR identifies O-H, C-H sp3, C=O, C-O, C=C aromatic and C-C. The hydrogel characterization showed formation PVA-borate crosslink. S/CRF characterization reflects the structural of coconut shell biochar and PVA/Borate hydrogel. The results S/CRF performance test had average swelling ratio and water absorbance 218.99% and 227.80% with constant water retention on day 5. The addition coatings and impregnation is able to slow release KCl. Granules have one of the S/CRF requirements and have good biodegradability.
