Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas metode demonstrasi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mencuci sepeda motor pada siswa tunagrahita. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan siswa tunagrahita dalam memahami dan mengaplikasikan prosedur mencuci sepeda motor secara mandiri. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih mengandalkan instruksi verbal dan kurang memberikan contoh visual yang konkret. Metode demonstrasi dipilih karena memberikan visualisasi langsung dan instruksi langkah demi langkah yang mudah dipahami oleh siswa tunagrahita. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuasi-eksperimental dengan desain single-subject research, melibatkan 14 sesi pengamatan yang terdiri dari fase baseline 1 (A1), intervensi (B), dan baseline 2 (A2). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada semua variabel pengukuran, yaitu frekuensi, persentase prosedur yang benar, durasi, dan jumlah trial. Terjadi perubahan skor yang cukup besar dari fase baseline 1 ke fase intervensi, menunjukkan efektivitas metode demonstrasi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mencuci sepeda motor. Persentase overlap yang rendah antara kondisi baseline dan intervensi mengindikasikan pengaruh positif dari intervensi. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa metode demonstrasi efektif dalam membantu siswa tunagrahita meningkatkan keterampilan mencuci sepeda motor, memfasilitasi pemahaman yang lebih baik, dan menghasilkan praktik yang lebih konsisten serta mandiri. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah pentingnya penerapan metode demonstrasi dalam pembelajaran vokasional di sekolah luar biasa untuk mendukung kemandirian siswa. Rekomendasi diberikan kepada guru agar mempertimbangkan metode demonstrasi dalam mengajarkan keterampilan praktis lainnya. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the demonstration method in improving motorcycle washing skills among students with intellectual disabilities. The background of this research is the low ability of students with intellectual disabilities to understand and apply the procedure for washing motorcycles independently. This is due to the learning approach that relies more on verbal instructions and provides fewer concrete visual examples. The demonstration method was chosen because it provides direct visualization and step-by-step instructions that are easy for students with intellectual disabilities to understand. This study uses a quasi-experimental approach with a single-subject research design, involving 14 observation sessions consisting of baseline phase 1 (A1), intervention (B), and baseline phase 2. (A2). The research results show a significant improvement in all measurement variables, namely frequency, percentage of correct procedures, duration, and number of trials. There was a substantial change in scores from the baseline phase 1 to the intervention phase, indicating the effectiveness of the demonstration method in enhancing motorcycle washing skills. The low percentage of overlap between the baseline and intervention conditions indicates a positive impact of the intervention. The conclusion of this study is that the demonstration method is effective in helping students with intellectual disabilities improve their motorcycle washing skills, facilitate better understanding, and produce more consistent and independent practices. The implication of this research is the importance of applying the demonstration method in vocational education at special schools to support student independence. Recommendations are given to teachers to consider the demonstration method in teaching other practical skills.
