Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh hasil observasi pada siswa kelas IV SDN Cilumber pada mata pelajaran IPS, dimana saat pembelajaran berlangsung ditemukan berbagai gejala-gejala yang berimbas pada rendahnya hasil tes harian siswa. Gejala-gejala yang terlihat antara lain siswa tidak mampu mengingat materi yang baru saja disampaikan guru, siswa tidak mampu memberikan contoh tentang materi yang disampaikan, pembelajaran terlihat sangat pasif dan hanya terjadi interaksi satu arah dari guru ke siswa tanpa ada timbal balik dari siswa ke guru. Banyak hal yang menjadi faktor penyebab muncul nya gejala-gejala tersebut, salah satu nya kemampuan guru dalam melakukan pengelolaan kelas. Sebagian besar aktifitas guru hanya ceramah, sehingga terjadi teacher centre dimana pembelajaran berpusat pada guru. Perlu ada inovasi agar pembelajaran lebih menarik salah satunya melalui penerapan model-model yang inovatif salah satunya adalah cooperative learning tipe picture to picture. Maka dari itu lah, peneliti mencoba meneliti penerapan model cooperative learning tipe picture to picture untuk meningkatkan kognisi siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang mengacu dari model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melewati beberapa tahapan. Setiap tahapannya meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi serta refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu, persentase rata-rata ketuntasan belajar siswa pada siklus I sebesar 50%. Pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan menjadi 83%. Dan siklus III mengalami peningkatan kembali menjadi 93%. Dari data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kognisi siswa pada proses pembelajaran IPS mengalami peningkatan melalui penerapan model cooperative learning tipe picture to picture. This research is motivated by the observation of the fourth grade students of SDN Cilumber in social studies, in which learning takes place when found various symptoms which impact on students' low test results daily. The symptoms are seen, among others, students are not able to remember the material just presented the teacher, the student is not able to provide examples of the material presented, it looks very passive learning and interaction occurs only in one direction from the teacher to the students without any feedback from students to teachers . Many things can be factors of her symptoms appeared, one of its capabilities in managing the classroom teacher. Most of the activities of teachers just lecture, resulting in a teacher center where a teacher-centered learning. There needs to be learning more interesting innovations such as through the implementation of innovative models of cooperative learning one of them is the type of picture to picture. Thus it was, the researchers tried to examine the application of cooperative learning models of type picture to picture to improve student cognition. This study is an action research model that refers Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. Therefore, this study was conducted by passing several stages. Each stage includes planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This research was conducted in three cycles. The results obtained, namely, the average percentage of students passing grade on the first cycle of 50%. In the second cycle increased to 83%. And the third cycle has increased again to 93%. From these data indicate that the cognition of students in the learning process through the implementation of IPS have increased cooperative learning model of the type of picture to picture.
