Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan struktur modal yang terjadi di subsektor Telekomunikasi. Struktur modal merupakan komposisi antara hutang atau modal eksternal perusahaan dan ekuitas atau modal internal perusahaan. Terdapat dua kebijakan struktur modal yang sering digunakan perusahaan yaitu teori trade-off dan teori percking order. Struktur modal yang tinggi menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan memiliki hutang lebih tinggi dari pada modal internal perusahaan. Hal ini mengakibatkan perusahaan memiliki resiko bisnis yang tinggi bahkan kemungkinan terjadinya resiko kebangkrutan semakin lebih besar.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif verifikatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah perusahaan-perusahaan subsektor Telekomunikasi yang terdaftar di BEI sejumlah enam perusahaan. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak lima perusahaan subsektor Telekomunikasi periode 2007-2013 dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, profitabilitas berpengaruh negatif dan tangibility berpengaruh positif terhadap struktur modal, sedangkan pertumbuhan perusahaan dan ukuran perusahaan tidak berpengaruh terhadap struktur modal.

Kata kunci: Struktur modal, profitabilitas, tangibility, pertumbuhan perusahaan dan ukuran perusahaan.

This research is based on the problem of capital structure that happen in sebsector Telecommunication. Capital structure is composition between debt or capital from external firm and equity or capital from internal firm. There are two capital structure policy which often used by the firm, such as trade-off and pecking order theory. High capital structure showed, that the firm has more debt than equity. Because of that, the firm become risky and also has bankruptcy risk. The methode that used in this research are descriptive and verificative method. The population of the research are the companies in subsector Telecommunication that were listed in BEI . The sample were used five firms of subsector Telecommunication 2007-2013 period using purposive sampling method. The result of this research showed, that profitability has negative t influence and tangibility has positive influence on capital structure, meanwhile growth and firm size has not influence on capital structure.
