Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kinerja karyawan. Hal tersebut ditandai dengan turunnya hasil penilaian kinerja karyawan, serta menurunnya produktivitas benih padi. Fenomena tersebut harus segera ditangani karena karyawan merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat menentukan keberhasilan suatu perusahaan. Gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer dan komunikasi kerja dijadikan suatu cara untuk meningkatkan kinerja karyawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer, komunikasi kerja, kinerja karyawan, pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer dan komunikasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan, pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer terhadap kinerja karyawan, dan pengaruh komunikasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan PT Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Kantor Regional I. Objek yang menjadi unit analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan PT Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Kantor Regional I. Variabel bebas (X) dalam penelitian ini adalah gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer dan komunikasi kerja, serta variabel terikat (Y) yaitu kinerja karyawan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif, verifikatif, dan metode yang digunakan yaitu eksplanatori survei dengan teknik stratifield random sampling, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 143 orang. Teknik analisa data yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda dengan alat bantu software komputer SPSS 21.0. Dari hasil penelitian terhadap pengujian hipotesis dapat diketahui bahwa gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer dan komunikasi kerja top manajer memiliki pengaruh sebesar 64,5% terhadap kinerja karyawan, sedangkan gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer dan komunikasi kerja middle manajer memiliki pengaruh sebesar 73,3% terhadap kinerja karyawan. Gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer top manajer memiliki pengaruh sebesar 33,1% terhadap kinerja karyawan, sedangkan gaya kepemimpinan kontemporer middle manajer memiliki pengaruh sebesar 39,1% terhadap kinerja karyawan. Komunikasi kerja top manajer memiliki pengaruh sebesar 57,8% terhadap kinerja karyawan, sedangkan komunikasi kerja middle manajer memiliki pengaruh sebesar 51,8% terhadap kinerja karyawan. This is highly proven by the decreasing result of employee’s performance and the lower number of productivity. Those phenomena should be immediately handled due to the fact that employee is one of company’s triumph determinants. Contemporary leadership style and work communication are undeniable to be the way to improve the employee’s performance. This research is aimed at obtaining the picture of contemporary leadership style, work communication, employee’s performance, the influence of contemporary leadership style and work communication to the performance of employees, the influence of contemporary leadership style to the performance of employee, and the effect of work communication to employee’s performance at PT Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Regional Office I. The object of unit analysis in this study were employees of PT Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Regional Office I. The independent variables (X) in this research are the contemporary leadership style and work communication, and the dependent variable is the employee’s performance. This research highly uses description and verification, and the method used is an explanatory survey with stratifield random sampling techniques with a total sample of 143 persons. Data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with computer software tool SPSS 21.0. The research result which is supposed to test the hypothesis reveals that contemporary leadership style and work communication in top managers has influenced the employee’s performance for 64,5%, and contemporary leadership style and work communication in middle managers has influenced the employee’s performance for 73,3%. Thus, contemporary leadership style in top managers has influence of 33,1% to the performance of employees, and contemporary leadership style in middle managers has influence of 39,1% to the performance of employees. Work communication in top managers has the effect of 57,8% to the employee’s performance, and work communication in middle managers has the effect of 51,8% to the employee’s performance.
