Abstract
This research is motivated by a decrease in moral symptoms which is the main problem in instilling the character of respect and responsibility in students. The Central Bureau of Statistics stated that there was an increase in the number of juvenile delinquency cases in Indonesia by 10.7% in 2013-2015. Another survey stated that 39% of Indonesian youth admitted to having had sexual relations outside of marriage, and 84% of Indonesian youth had experienced bullying at school. The general research objective is to find out and understand the level of respect and responsibility character of high school students in Bandung City, then the specific objectives are to determine the level of respect for oneself, the level of respect for others, the level of respect for the environment, the level of responsibility for self-behaviour. themselves, the level of responsibility for learning, and the level of responsibility for the environment. This study used a quantitative approach with explorative methods, with data collection techniques using questionnaires and data analysis techniques using cross-tabulations with the final result in the form of descriptive percentages. The research was conducted in three public high schools in the city of Bandung, namely Bandung 12 Public High School, Bandung 25 Public High School and Bandung 21 Public High School. The research findings show that the character level of respect and responsibility for students of public senior high schools in the city of Bandung is good. However, for the indicator of responsibility for learning, the percentage value is the smallest compared to other percentage values so that responsibility for learning is classified as a poor level.
