Abstract

Rendahnya minat membaca masyarakat Indonesia terutama di sekolah dasar, telah menjadi fokus perhatian pemerintah Indonesia. Upaya untuk meningkatkan minat membaca siswa, salah satunya diberikan buku yang menarik seperti cerita pendek. Ketersediaan buku cerita pendek di salah satu sekolah dasar di Tambun Selatan masih terbatas. Hal ini akan mempengaruhi minat membaca cerita pendek siswa. Penelitian ini, bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat membaca cerita pendek, faktor yang mempengaruhi minat membaca cerita pendek serta upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan minat membaca cerita pendek pada siswa kelas IV. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek yang digunakan pada penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas IV yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa minat membaca cerita pendek pada siswa kelas IV di sekolah tersebut berada dikategori sedang dengan persentase 66,86%. Faktor yang mempengaruhi minat membaca cerita pendek pada siswa kelas IV di sekolah tersebut terdiri dari (1) faktor internal, meliputi kurangnya motivasi dalam diri siswa, dan kondisi kesehatan fisik, (2) faktor eksternal, meliputi peran orang tua dan lingkungan keluarga yang kurang mendukung, sarana dan prasarana yang kurang memadai dan pengaruh teman sebaya. Upaya yang telah dilakukan oleh sekolah, guru dan orang tua di sekolah tersebut sudah cukup baik dalam meningkatkan minat membaca cerita pendek pada siswa kelas IV. Upaya yang telah dilakukan, yaitu memberikan motivasi kepada siswa, memberikan bimbingan dan pendampingan kepada siswa, menyediakan sarana dan prasarana, melaksanakan Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS), memberikan reward kepada siswa, membuat ekstrakulikuler literasi, dan membuat program khusus GLASMA. ----- The low interest in reading in Indonesian society, especially in elementary schools, has become the focus of the Indonesian government's attention. Efforts to increase students' interest in reading, one of which is given interesting books such as short stories. The availability of short story books in one of the elementary schools in Tambun Selatan is still limited. This will affect students' interest in reading short stories. This study aims to determine interest in reading short stories, factors that influence interest in reading short stories and efforts that can be made to increase interest in reading short stories in grade IV students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The subjects used in this study involved 32 grade IV students. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study found that interest in reading short stories in grade IV students at the school was in the moderate category with a percentage of 66.86%. Factors that influence interest in reading short stories in grade IV students at the school consist of (1) internal factors, including a lack of motivation in students, and physical health conditions, (2) external factors, including the role of parents and a less supportive family environment , inadequate facilities and infrastructure and peer influence. The efforts made by the school, teachers and parents at the school have been quite good in increasing interest in reading short stories in fourth grade students. Efforts that have been made, namely providing motivation to students, providing guidance and assistance to students, providing facilities and infrastructure, implementing the School Literacy Movement (GLS), providing rewards to students, making literacy extracurriculars, and creating a special GLASMA program.
