Abstract

The background of this thesis entitled “Family-Based Toilet Training Program for Children with Mild Cerebral Palsy Type Diplegia” is due to a case in the field where an 8-year-old child has not been able to defecate and urinate in the toilet. This study aims to formulate the development of a family-based toilet training program for children with mild diplegia type cerebral palsy. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were children with special needs, namely cerebral palsy at the age of 8 years and families with children with special needs. Data collection was obtained from the results of interviews with parents and observations regarding the activities of parents and children related to toilet training and tests conducted on children to clarify the data found. Based on the data it was found that parents have carried out toilet training activities but children are still not able to do it because there are several obstacles that children have, including the motoric aspects of children who cannot squat while the toilet at home is a squat toilet. Based on these problems, a development program was made for parents to teach their children using task analysis and continuous training for children and the use of portable toilet media for children. Keywords : Cerebral Palsy, Toilet Training, family.
