Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interest of students in learning due to the lack of interactive learning media in line with technological developments in the 21st century. Interactive multimedia according to Fajar et al (2021) is multimedia that is not linear, but students have choices according to the menu offered. The purpose of this research is to create application-based learning media called SMILE (Smart Interactive learning) - Excursion to Space which can improve the critical thinking skills of grade VI students of SDN Karang Mulya 1 on solar system material. This study uses the ADDIE teaching material development model which consists of 5 stages, namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, expert and student validation, and evaluation questions (pretest and posttest). Data analysis techniques include data on the learning media development process, data on the feasibility of learning media through expert validation and user validation, and data on the effectiveness of learning media with normality test, T-test and N-Gain test. The results showed that the SMILE application learning media received a "Very Feasible" category with an assessment of 98.3% from material experts, 99% from media experts, and 96% from students (users). The results also showed an increase in students' critical thinking skills after learning using the SMILE application, as evidenced by the T-test results, the significance value obtained was 0.000 and the N-Gain test results of 0.77 were included in the "high" category. The conclusion of this research is that an application-based learning media is produced that is feasible and effective for improving students' critical thinking skills.
