Abstract

The selection of learning methods must be chosen appropriately and in accordance with the subject matter, so that it can make students interested in the learning process and can encourage students to play an active role in learning activities. One of the learning methods that encourage active students is the Project based learning Method. This study aims to determine the differences in the implementation of the project based learning method with problem based learning on learning outcomes and activeness. This study used an experimental method with a Post Test Only Control Group Design. The variables of this research are the project based learning method and the active learning of students. Indicators of active learning are students reading subject matter, asking questions, being active/dare to express opinions, actively listening to the teacher conveying subject matter, students being active in doing assignments/questions, and actively solving problems. The subjects of this study were class XI IPS 2 as the experimental class and XI IPS 1 as the control class. Data collection instruments use questionnaires and tests. Data were analyzed and tested using an independent sample t test (t test). Based on the results of the study, the learning outcomes of the experimental class were higher than the control class, with an average score of 77.2 for the experimental class compared to a total score of 72.23 for the control class. Meanwhile, the active learning of both classes was in the high category, the experimental class was higher with a total value of 111.83 learning activeness, while the control class had a total value of 100.91. the results of the hypothesis test (t test) show that a significance value of <0.05 is obtained, which means 0.000 <0.05, then H1 is accepted or means that there are differences in learning outcomes and activeness between the two classes.
