Abstract

Penampilan merupakan salah satu nilai yang terbilang penting di dalam masyarakat modern. Adanya pria-pria yang memiliki pemahaman dan perhatian yang lebih mendalam telah membangun kelompok yang diberikan julukan metroseksual. Pemaknaan yang diberikan membentuk alasan-alasan terbentuknya gaya hidup metroseksual. Namun, pandangan lingkungan yang belum sepenuhnya paham konteks akan gaya hidup metroseksual sering mesangkut-pautkan mereka dengan orientasi seksual menyimpang. Permasalahan ini ditimbulkan dari penilaian bahwa melakukan perawatan diri, menjaga penampilan dan mengutamakan kemenarikan diri sebagai sebuah hal yang berbau feminim dan tidak selaras dengan nilai-nilai maskulinitasyang masyarakat tahu. Hal tersebut dapat memicu terjadinya proses konstruksi identitas pria metroseksual di lingkungan masyarakat karena stigma yang ada. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan mengetahui pemaknaan dari gaya hidup metroseksual tersebut beserta apakah konstruksi identitas berlaku untuk menghindari pandangan negatif masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan dilakukan proses wawancara dengan 10 informan dari berbagai usia dan profesi yang berada di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari setiap informan, memberikan pemaknaan berbeda-beda akan gaya hidup terkait serta adanya atau tidak konstruksi identitas di dalam lingkungan sosial. : ch deeper understanding and attention to their appearance has built a group that known as metrosexual. The meaning given as forms of the reason for the metrosexual lifestyle. However, in the society perspectives that haven’t completely grasp understanding of the metrosexual lifestyle often associate it with the deviant sexual orientation. The problem arises from the assasment that maintaining their apperance and prioritazing their attractivness are feminine and not in linve with the value of masculinity that society know. This can trigger the process of constructing the identity of the metrosexual men in the society due to the existing stigma. This research aims to find out the meaning of the metrosexual lifesyle and the wether identity construction applies to avoid negative views of society. The method used in the research is a qualitative method with interview process with 10 informants of various age and professions located in City of Bandung. The results showed that each informant gave different meaning of the lifestyle and whether or not there was identity construction in the social environment.
