Abstract
Abstract The spread of radicalism on campus is a hotly discussed issue. The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) stated that campuses tend to be entry points for radicalism. Islamic activities and Islamic religious education in Islamic Student Activity Unit, Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Keislaman, allegedly one of its seedbeds. Islamic Student Activity Unit activities should have a function to strengthening student’s religiosity, as well as building a peaceful, moderate and tolerant religiosity. Based on the theory of psychology of religion, mature religious people are adherents of religions that are peaceful, moderate and tolerant. In general, this study aims to describe the activities of Islamic Student Activity Unit, Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Keislaman at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), the religious thinking patterns of Islamic UKM activist students, and the presence or absence of radicalism in Higher Education. This study uses a qualitative approach with analytic descriptive method. The primary data sources of this research are the results of observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The secondary data sources for this research are books, journal articles, mass media, and others related to the theme of this research. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data is processed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing methods. This study concludes that most Islamic UKM activists at the Indonesian University of Education have a Moderate and Inclusive pattern of thinking, so they cannot be categorized as radical. Therefore, with the result of this study, it was found that previous research which stated that Islamic UKM activities were a place for radical understanding was inaccurate.
