Abstract
Dalam keterampilan berbahasa siswa harus menguasai empat keterampilan bahasa yaitu, berbicara, menulis, menyimak, dan membaca. Salah satu kemampuan yang harus dikuasai dalam membaca adalah kemampuan membaca pemahaman. Berdasarkan hasil data yang didapatkan sebelum dilakukan penelitian yang diperoleh dari guru dan siswa kelas V SDN 3 Nagritengah, disinyalir bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa tergolong rendah. Maka peneliti mencoba menerapkan metode pembelajaran Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) dengan tujuan untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi pada siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart, melalui 2 siklus. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SDN 3 Nagritengah dengan subjek penelitian 19 siswa. Terdapat peningkatan pada kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi pada siswa setelah diterapkannya metode pembelajaran Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R), hal ini ditunjukkan oleh hasil aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Rata-rata hasil belajar kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi pada pra siklus diperoleh 48.03 dan tidak ada siswa yang memperoleh nilai tuntas KKM. Siklus I perolehan nilai rata-rata meningkat menjadi 63.50 dengan jumlah siswa tuntas sebanyak 7 siswa. Siklus II diperoleh nilai rata-rata 81.25 dengan jumlah tuntas sebanyak 17 siswa. Dengan demikian penerapan metode pembelajaran Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi pada siswa. One of the skills that must be mastered in reading is reading comprehension ability. Based on the results of the data obtained prior to conducting the research obtained from the teachers and fifth grade students of SDN 3 Nagritengah, it was presumed that students' reading comprehension skills were low. So the researchers tried to apply the learning method Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) with the aim of being able to improve students' reading comprehension of explanatory texts. This research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the research design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, through 2 cycles. This research was conducted at SDN 3 Nagritengah with 19 students as research subjects. There is an increase in students' reading comprehension of explanatory texts after the application of the learning method Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R), this is shown by the results of activities and student learning outcomes. The average learning result for the ability to read comprehension of explanatory texts in the pre-cycle was 48.03 and no student received a complete KKM score. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 63.50 with a total of 7 students completing. Cycle II obtained an average value of 81.25 with a total of 17 students completed. Thus the application of learning methods Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) can improve students' reading comprehension of explanatory texts.
