Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi digital dengan kanal-kanal daring secara masif membuat banyak media menggunakan kanal tersebut untuk mempercepat penyebaran informasi, serta pandemi Covid-19 yang melanda dunia yang semakin mendukung peralihan kegiatan dan partisipasi golongan masyarakat termasuk mahasiswa secara daring khususnya melalui media sosial. Dalam penelitian ini, aktivis mahasiswa yang menjadi salah satu golongan masyarakat yang paling aktif menyuarakan pendapat dan pandangan sosial-politiknya menjadi objek penelitian untuk mengetahui besarnya pengaruh Pemberitaan Daring terhadap Partisipasi Politik Daring melalui pemenuhan informasi politik yang merupakan Pengetahuan Politik sebagai variabel mediator. Dalam teori Uses and Gratifications mengasumsikan bahwa kehadiran media dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasi atau kognitif seseorang, serta mendorong mereka untuk melakukan kegiatan tertentu, dalam hal ini ialah Partisipasi Politik Daring. Pemenuhan kognitif tersebut dalam penelitian ini merupakan Pengetahuan Politik yang memediasi pengaruh Pemberitaan Daring terhadap Partisipasi Politik Daring. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif melalui penyebaran kuesioner untuk mendapatkan dan menganalisis data melalui regresi dan analisis jalur. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kampus PTN-BH wilayah Bandung Raya yang aktif dalam berorganisasi. Dengan purposive sampling dan jumlah sampel penelitian didapatkan menggunakan rumus Lemeshow dengan nilai kepercayaan 95%, maka jumlah sampel sebesar 100 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ketiga variabel memiliki korelasi yang kuat hingga sangat kuat, serta ditemukan pengaruh signifikan pengaruh Pemberitaan Daring terhadap Partisipasi Politik Daring melalui Pengetahuan Politik. The massive development of digital communication technology with online channels has made many media use these channels to accelerate the dissemination of information, as well as the Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world which is increasingly supporting the transition of activities and participation of groups of people including students to online channels, especially through social media. In this study, student activists who are one of the most active groups in voicing their socio-political opinions, are the object of research to determine the magnitude of the influence of Online News on Online Political Participation through the fulfillment of political information which is Political Knowledge as an mediator variable. In the Uses and Gratifications theory, it assumes that the presence of the media can fulfill a person's informational or cognitive needs, and encourage them to carry out certain activities, in this case, Online Political Participation. This cognitive fulfillment in this study is Political Knowledge which mediates the influence of Online News on Online Political Participation. The research was conducted using quantitative methods by distributing questionnaires to obtain and analyze data through regression and path analysis. The population in this study were students of the Bandung Institute of Technology, the Indonesian University of Education, and the Padjadjaran University, who were active in organizations. With purposive sampling and the number of research samples obtained using the Lemeshow formula with a confidence value of 95%, the total sample is 100 respondents. The results of the study showed that the three variables had a strong to very strong correlation, and a significant effect was found of the influence of Online News on Online Political Participation through Political Knowledge.
