Abstract

Kemampuan koneksi matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang perlu dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran matematika agar siswa mampu mengenali dan menerapkan keterkaitan antar gagasan matematika, serta mengaplikasikan keterkaitan gagasan matematika dengan ide-ide di luar matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memeroleh gambaran kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa berdasarkan kategori kemampuan matematis, tipe kesalahan siswa dan faktor penyebabnya berdasarkan kategori kemampuan matematis, serta profil kesalahan siswa berdasarkan indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas 35 siswa SMP kelas IX yang telah mempelajari topik bangun ruang sisi datar. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi dokumen terkait kemampuan matematis siswa, tes kemampuan koneksi matematis, dan wawancara kepada sembilan siswa terpilih berdasarkan kategori kemampuan matematis dan kemampuan koneksi matematis. Kedua kategori tersebut terdiri atas tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa secara keseluruhan termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Siswa pada kategori kemampuan matematis tinggi memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis tinggi dan sedang, siswa pada kategori kemampuan matematis sedang memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis tinggi, sedang, dan rendah, serta siswa pada kategori kemampuan matematis rendah memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis tinggi dan rendah. Tipe kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa, yaitu kesalahan memahami, kesalahan prosedur, kesalahan kecerobohan, dan kesalahan acak. Kesalahan tersebut banyak ditemukan pada indikator soal memahami keterkaitan konsep kubus dengan konsep limas segiempat, serta membangun gagasan baru sehingga menghasilkan implikasi dari kedua konsep tersebut. Adapun faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan yang beragam karena latar belakang siswa yang berbeda-beda. Mathematical connection skill is one of the skills that need to be developed in learning mathematics so that students are able to recognize and apply the interrelationships between mathematical ideas, as well as apply the interrelationships of mathematical ideas with ideas outside mathematics. This study aims to obtain an overview of students' mathematical connection skills based on the category of mathematical skill, types of student errors and their causal factors based on the category of mathematical skill, as well as profiles of student errors based on indicators of mathematical connection skill. The method used in this study is phenomenology with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study consisted of 35 junior high school students in grade IX who had studied the topic of polyhedrons. Data collection techniques were carried out by studying documents related to students' mathematical skills, tests of mathematical connection skills, and interviews with nine selected students based on the categories of mathematical skills and mathematical connection skills. The two categories consist of high, medium, and low. Based on the results of the study, the overall skill of students' mathematical connections is included in the moderate category. Students in the category of high mathematical skill have high and medium mathematical skill, students in the category of moderate mathematical skill have high, medium, and low mathematical skill, and students in the category of low mathematical skill have high and low mathematical skill. Types of errors made by students, namely understanding errors, procedural errors, careless errors, and random errors. These errors are often found in the indicator questions about understanding the relationship between the cube concept and the rectangular pyramid concept, as well as building new ideas so as to produce implications from the two concepts. The factors that cause errors vary because of the different backgrounds of students.
