Abstract
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji karya drawing dan performance art-instalasi Isa Perkasa periode Pancaroba Indonesia 1999 sebagai wacana penting dalam seni rupa akhir tahun 90-an mengenai peralihan sosial-politik pemerintahan orde baru menuju reformasi di Indonesia. Praktik korupsi, kolusi, dan nepotisme pada kekuasaan dan kekerasan sebagai normalisasi menjadi narasi utama karya periode tersebut. Tujuan pengkajian ini adalah untuk mengetahui representasi yang membentuk mitos dan mitos bekerja pada karya drawing dan performance art-instalasi Isa Perkasa periode “Pancaroba Indonesia 1999. Upaya dalam menemukan mitos pada karya seni Isa Perkasa, peneliti menggunakan teori mitos Roland Barthes melalui signifikasi terhadap 3 karya drawing dan 1 performance art-instalasi semangka di galeri Pacific Bridge. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan peneliti sebagai kunci instrumen, instrumen pengumpulan data dan validasi data secara triangulasi, analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Pengalaman empiris seniman terhadap komik, tradisi daerah dan wayang memberikan pengaruh terhadap representasi narasi drawing Isa dan representasi konseptual performance art-instalasi semangka di ruang galeri sebagai pembentuk mitos. Daur ulang bahasa melalui persilangan antar budaya daerah dengan budaya asing menjadi dialog terhadap wacana yang dituju. Keberadaan seniman-seniman Indonesia, termasuk Isa Perkasa di residensi Amerika Serikat merupakan suatu mitos bahwa wacana krisis sosial-politik Indonesia disampaikan melalui ritual penyucian akan memberikan dampak yang baik dan dijauhkan dari bahaya bagi Indonesia. Nilai-nilai tradisi daerah melalui mitos menjadi kekuatan bagi seniman Indonesia dalam upaya merepresentasikan seni rupa Indonesia kontemporer yang sesuai dengan keadaan nyata. Pembahasan mitos akan mengarah terhadap diskursus melalui ideologi sehingga peneliti merekomendasikan pendalaman penelitian selanjutnya untuk mengkaji karya Isa Perkasa pada periode ini. Kata kunci: representasi, incoding, mitos, narasi, perubahan sosial ABSTRACT This research examines the drawing and performance art-installation works of Isa Perkasa's during the Pancaroba Indonesia 1999 period as an important discourse in art in the late 90s regarding the socio-political transition of the New Order government towards reform in Indonesia. The practice of corruption, collusion and nepotism in power and violence as normalization became the main narrative of the work of that period. The purpose of this study is to find out the representations that make up the myths and myths of working on the drawings and performance art of Isa Perkasa's installation period “Pancaroba Indonesia 1999. In an effort to find myths in Isa Perkasa's artwork, the researcher uses Roland Barthes' myth theory through signification. This study uses a qualitative approach with the researcher as the key instrument, data collection instrument and data validation by triangulation, data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The artist's empirical experience of comics, regional traditions and wayang influences the narrative representation of Isa's drawings and the conceptual representation of performance art-installation of watermelons in the gallery space as myth-forming. Recycling language through crosses between regional cultures and foreign cultures becomes a dialogue towards the intended discourse. The existence of Indonesian artists, including Isa Perkasa in the United States residency, is a myth that the discourse on Indonesia's socio-political crisis delivered through a purification ritual will have a good impact and be kept away from harm to Indonesia. The traditional values of the region through myths have become a strength for Indonesian artists in their efforts to represent contemporary Indonesian art that is in accordance with the real situation. The discussion of myths will lead to discourse through ideology, so the researcher recommends further research to examine Isa Perkasa's work in this period.
