Abstract
This research studied the figures of speech and their translation found in Lauren Weisberger's novel entitled The Devil Wears Prada. The classification of the figures of speech used in this research is based on Baldick' s category and their translation is analyzed based on the translation procedures proposed by Newmark. The research was aimed to answer these research questions: (1) What types of figures of speech are found in the novel? (2) What translation procedures are applied by the translator in translating figures of speech in the novel? The object of the research was Lauren Weisbergers' novel entitled The Devil Wears Prada. The novel was translated into Indonesian by Siska Yunita entitled Bos
Paling Kejam Sedunia. Meanwhile, the subjects of the research were 100 words and expressions considered as figures of speech that were randomly selected from the novel.
Based on the findings, the research reports that there are eight types of figures of speech found in the novel and the figure of speech most frequently found in the novel is simile. In addition, there are eleven translation procedures applied by the translator in translating the words and expressions regarded as figure of speech. The translation procedure most frequently applied by the translator is literal.
