Abstract

ABSTRAK Pemahaman tentang Nature of Science (NOS) sangat penting bagi guru dan pesertadidik karena NOS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains yang menyokong pengembangan masyarakat yang melek sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyampaian dan persentase tujuh dimensi NOS pada materi ikatan kimia dalam buku teks kimia SMA kelas X yang paling dominan digunakan di Kota Bandung. Pada penelitian ini digunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis konten dan kuntitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar coding unit analisis. Objek data pada penelitian ini adalah dua buku teks kimia SMA kelas X yang dominan digunakan di Kota Bandung berdasarkan hasil survei. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) Pada materi ikatan kimia dalam buku teks pelajaran kimia SMA kelas X yang dominan digunakan di Kota Bandung belum menyampaikan semua dimensi NOS secara lengkap dan eksplisit. Penyampaian dimensi berbasis model (model-based) dan instrumentasi termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik, dimensi tentatif dan inferensial termasuk dalam kategori baik, dimensi empiris termasuk dalam kategori cukup baik, dimensi sosial dan kemasyarakatan termasuk dalam kategori buruk, serta dimensi produk teknologi termasuk dalam kategori sangat buruk. (2) Persentase kemunculan tujuh dimensi NOS memiliki selisih yang cukup signifikan antara satu dimensi dengan dimensi lainnya. Dimensi berbasis model (model-based) merupakan dimensi yang persentase kemunculannya paling tinggi yaitu sebesar 55,6%. Selanjutnya, diikuti dimensi inferensial 24,7%, dimensi empiris 15,2%, dimensi tentatif 2,3%, dimensi instrumentasi 1,1%, dimensi sosial kemasyarakatan 1,1%, dan dimensi produk teknologi 0%. ABSTRACT An understanding of the Nature of Science (NOS) is very important for teachers and students because NOS can improve scientific literacy skills that support the development of a science-literate society. This study aims to determine the delivery and percentage of the seven dimensions of NOS on the chemical bonding material in high school chemistry textbooks for class X which are most dominantly used in the city of Bandung. This study used a qualitative approach to content analysis and quantitative methods with descriptive methods. The instrument used is the analysis unit coding sheet. The data objects in this study were two high school chemistry textbooks for class X which were dominantly used in Bandung based on the survey results. The results of this study indicate that (1) the chemical bonding material in the tenth grade X high school chemistry textbook which is dominantly used in the city of Bandung has not conveyed all the dimensions of NOS completely and explicitly. The delivery of model-based and instrumentation dimensions is in the very good category, the tentative and inferential dimensions are in the good category, the empirical dimensions are in the fairly good category, the social and social dimensions are in the bad category, and the dimensions of technology products are included in the category very bad. (2) The percentage of occurrences of the seven NOS dimensions has a significant difference between one dimension and another. The model-based dimension is the dimension with the highest percentage of occurrence, which is 55.6%. Next, the inferential dimension is 24.7%, the empirical dimension is 15.2%, the tentative dimension is 2.3%, the instrumentation dimension is 1.1%, the social dimension is 1.1%, and the technology product dimension is 0%.
