Abstract
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh penguasaan bahasa Inggris siswa sekolah dasar
terutama penguasaan vocabulary yang masih kurang. Salah satu faktor yang diduga
mempengaruhi rendahnya penguasaan vocabulary siswa sekolah dasar adalah
proses menghafal dan pengucapan kata terutama bahasa asing yang baru diketahui.
Salah satu solusinya yaitu dengan menggunakan media flash card dalam proses
pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan materi Direction and Location. Penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana pengaruh penggunaan media flash card
terhadap penguasaan vocabulary bahasa Inggris kelas VI anak Sekolah Dasar.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah Pre- Eksperimen dengan one-grup pretest�posttest design. Subjek yang digunakan padapenelitian ini sebanyak 29 siswa kelas
VI Sekolah Dasar. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah soal Tes dan
Observasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh rata-rata skor pretset sebesar
41,56% dan skor postest sebesar 70,68% . Selain itu rata-rata N-Gain yang di
peroleh yaitu sebsar 0,45%. Dari hasil skor yang di peroleh dapat dikatakan bahwa
media pembelajaran flash card dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar vocabulary
bahasa Inggris siswa. Terdapat pengaruh dari pembelajaran menggunakan media
flash card terhadap penguasaan vocabulary siswa.

This research is motivated by the English mastery of elementary school students,
especially vocabulary mastery which is still lacking. One of the factors that are
thought to influence the low vocabulary mastery of elementary school students is
the process of memorizing and pronouncing words, especially new foreign
languages. One solution is to use flash card media in the English learning process
with Direction and Location material. This study aims to see how the effect of using
flash card media on the mastery of English vocabulary for grade VI elementary
school children. The research method used is pre-experiment with one-group
pretest-posttest design. The subjects used in this study were 29 grade VI elementary
school students. The research instrument used is a matter of Test and Observation.
Based on the results of the study, the average pretset score was 41.56% and the
posttest score was 70.68%. In addition, the average N-Gain obtained is 0.45%.
From the scores obtained, it can be said that the flash card learning media can
improve students' English vocabulary learning outcomes. Therefore, there is an
effect of learning using flash card media on students' vocabulary mastery.
