Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa, hal tersebut dikarenakan pembelajaran yang kurang efektif. Pemahaman konsep matematis adalah kemampuan yang diperlukan untuk mempermudah siswa dalam mempelajari matematika dan menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Dalam mengatasi permasalahan ini maka diterapkannya sebuah solusi yaitu dengan menerapkan model ARIAS. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas IV B dan mengetahui aktivitas siswa serta guru dalam pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model ARIAS. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan desain Kemmis dan MC. Taggart, yang dilaksanakan dengan dua siklus. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa serta tes yang berbentuk uraian. Lokasi penelitian ini terletak di salah satu SD di Kecamatan Cipeundeuy Kabupaten Subang dengan subjek penelitian merupakan siswa kelas IV B yang berjumlah 33 siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan penerapan model pembelajaran ARIAS dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang dapat dilihat dari skor persentase daya serap klasikal pada siklus I sebesar 69,69% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 87,87%. Sedangkan aktivitas siswa memperoleh rata-rata skor persentase pada siklus I sebesar 73,05% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 88,25%. Kemudian aktivitas guru pada siklus I memperoleh rata-rata skor persentase sebesar 77,50% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 91,25%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran ARIAS dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas IV B dalam pembelajaran matematika. ----- This research is motivated by the low ability of students to understand mathematical concepts, this is due to less effective learning. Understanding mathematical concepts is the ability needed to facilitate students in learning mathematics and solving mathematical problems. In overcoming this problem, a solution is applied, namely by applying the ARIAS model. This study has the aim of increasing the understanding of mathematical concepts of class IV B students and knowing the activities of students and teachers in learning by applying the ARIAS model. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using the Kemmis and MC design. Taggart, which is carried out in two cycles. The research instrument used was an observation sheet for teacher and student activities as well as a test in the form of a description. The location of this research is located in one of the elementary schools in Cipeundeuy District, Subang Regency with the research subjects being grade IV B students, totaling 33 students. The results of this study indicate that the application of the ARIAS learning model can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts which can be seen from the percentage score of classical absorption in the first cycle of 69.69% and increased in the second cycle to 87.87%. Meanwhile, student activity obtained an average percentage score in the first cycle of 73.05% and increased in the second cycle to 88.25%. Then the teacher activity in the first cycle obtained an average percentage score of 77.50% and increased in the second cycle to 91.25%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the ARIAS learning model can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts of class IV B students in learning mathematics.
