Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa SD dengan menerapkan metode eja berbantuan media kartu kata. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 2 di salah satu SD yang berada di Kabupaten Purwakarta, yang terdiri dari 13 siswa laki-laki dan 12 siswa perempuan. Hasil pelaksanaan tindakan kelas menunjukan bahwa dengan diterapkannya media kartu kata kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa dapat meningkat. Hal ini diketahui berdasar pada hasil tes siklus I, siswa tuntas individu sebanyak 17 dari 25 siswa dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 71,46 dan ketuntasan klasikal 68%, dan pada hasil tes siklus II, siswa yang tuntas individu sebanyak 25 siswa dari 25 siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 94,58 dan ketuntasan klasikal 100%. Hasil observasi kegiatan guru dan siswa dalam kegiatan belajar siklus I kategorinya cukup dan siklus II kategorinya sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode eja berbantuan media kartu kata dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 2 di SD tersebut. Kata Kunci: Membaca Permulaan, Metode Eja, Media Kartu Kata. ----- The research was conducted with the aim of improving the early reading ability of elementary school students by applying the word card-assisted spelling method. The research subjects were grade 2 students in an elementary school in Purwakarta Regency, which consisted of 13 male students and 12 female students. The results of implementing class actions show that with the application of word card media, students' initial reading ability can increase. It is known that based on the results of the first cycle test, 17 out of 25 students completed individual students with an average score of 71.46 and 68% classical completeness, and in the second cycle test results, 25 students out of 25 students completed individual tests. with an average value of 94.58 and 100% classical completeness. The results of the observation of teacher and student activities in the first cycle of learning activities were in sufficient category and the second cycle in the very good category. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of the word card-assisted spelling method can improve the reading ability of the 2nd graders in the elementary school.
