Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan rendahnya nilai siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika disebabkan oleh kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang kurang, siswa tidak paham mengenai materi bangun ruang, maka perlu adanya perbaikan dalam pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konstruktivisme. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui (1) bagaimana kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VI sekolah dasar sebelum menggunakan model pembelajaran konstruktivisme pada materi sifat-sifat bangun ruang (2) bagaimana kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VI sekolah dasar sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran konstruktivisme pada materi sifat-sifat bangun ruang (3) Bagaimana aktivitas belajar siswa kelas VI sekolah dasar dalam menggunakan model pembelajaran konstruktivisme terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan kelas dengan melaksanakan dua siklus pada kelas VI dengan instrument tes dan observasi. Penelitian ini mengalami peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya yaitu pada hasil tes uraian siklus 1 dengan rata-rata 63,75 dan siklus 2 dengan rata-rata 89,25. Dan hasil observasi aktivitas pada siklus 1 dengan rata-rata 8 dan siklus 2 dengan rata-rata 12,3. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran konstruktivisme dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dalam mata pelajaran matematika materi bangun ruang. ----- This research is motivated by the low grades of students in mathematics subjects caused by the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts that are lacking, students do not understand the material of building space, it is necessary to make improvements in learning by using constructivism learning models. The purpose of this study is to find out (1) how the ability to understand mathematical concepts of grade VI elementary school students before using the constructivism learning model on the material properties of geometric shapes (2) how the ability to understand mathematical concepts of grade VI elementary school students after using the constructivism learning model on the material properties of spatial structures (3) How are the learning activities of grade VI elementary school students in using the constructivism learning model to understand mathematical concepts. The research method used is classroom action research by carrying out two cycles in class VI with test and observation instruments. This study experienced an increase in each cycle, namely the results of the description test of cycle 1 with an average of 63.75 and cycle 2 with an average of 89.25. And the results of activity observations in cycle 1 with an average of 8 and cycle 2 with an average of 12.3. This study concludes that the application of the constructivism learning model can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts in the mathematical subject matter of building space.
