Abstract

Relative Age Effect (RAE) menjelaskan mengenai perlunya mengidentifikasi
pengaruh usia relatif / kronologis terhadap hasil pertandingan yang diharapkan secara
khusus dalam olahraga anggar yakni dapat mempersiapkan seorang atlet muda potensial
di masa depan berdasarkan bulan lahirnya. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa usia
dan bulan lahir memiliki kaitan erat dalam pencetakan bibit prestasi unggul bagi setiap
cabang olahraga khususnya anggar. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif.
Penelitian ini menggunakan kusioner sebagai instrumennya guna mendapatkan data
demografis dan data sekunder terkait hasil pertandingan anggar. Sampling digunakan
dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan populasi seluruh atlet anggar Jawa Barat yang
berpartisipasi pada Babak Kualifikasi Porprov Anggar 2022. Olahraga Anggar merupakan
salah satu cabang olahraga beladiri yang memberikan klasifikasi gender dan usia dalam
permainannya. Olahraga ini terdiri dari tiga jenis senjata yakni Foil, Sabre dan Epee.
Dalam hal ini, peneliti berusaha untuk menjelaskan keterkaitan usia dalam proses
peningkatan prestasi terhadap suatu cabang olahraga khususnya anggar. RAE dapat
mengklasifikan rentang usia dan bulan lahir atlet yang cenderung lebih menonjol untuk
dilakukannya pembinaan atlet potensial sejak dini.

The Relative Age Effect (RAE) explains the need to know the effect of
relative/chronological age on the expected outcome of a match specifically in fencing,
which is to prepare a potential young athlete in the future based on the month of his birth.
Thus, it can be said that age and month have a close relationship in printing the seeds of
superior achievement for each sport, especially fencing. The method used is a quantitative
approach. This study uses a questionnaire as an instrument to obtain demographic data and
secondary data related to the results of fencing matches. Sampling was used with a
purposive sampling technique with a population of all West Java fencers participating in
the 2022 Porprov Fencing Qualification Round. Fencing is a martial sport that provides
gender and age classifications in the game. This sport consists potential of three types of
weapons namely Foil, Saber and Epee. In this case, the researcher tries to explain the
linkages in the process of improving the achievement of a sport, especially fencing. RAE
can classify the age range and month of birth of athletes who tend to be more prominent to
build athlete development from an early age.
