Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat keterampilan membaca siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan kesulitan membedakan huruf, menggabungkan kata dan kesalahan pelafalan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh metode Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile (VAKT) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian subjek tunggal atau Single Subject Research (SSR). Desain penelitian ini adalah A-B-A’ atau baseline 1, intervensi, dan baseline 2. Subjek penelitian 3 siswa kelas II di salah satu Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Cirebon. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan tes. Analisis data menggunakan analisis dalam kondisi dan antar kondisi. Penyajian data yang diperoleh berbentuk tabel dan grafik. Berdasarkan hasil dalam penelitian ini, metode VAKT meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan, hal tersebut dilihat dari semakin meningkatnya persentase nilai setelah diberikannya treatment yaitu fase intervensi dan baseline 2 serta kecilnya persentase overlap yaitu 0%. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, disimpulkan metode VAKT mampu meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pada ketiga subjek tersebut. Kata Kunci : Metode VAKT, Keterampilan Membaca Permulaan ----- This research aims to determine the effect of the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Tactile (VAKT) method in improving early reading skills of second grade elementary school students. This type of research uses with Single Subject Research (SSR). The design used in this study was A-B-A' or baseline 1, intervention, and baseline 2. The subjects of this study were 3 grade II students in an elementary school in Cirebon Regency who had difficulty in reading and distinguishing letters. Collecting data in this study using observation and test techniques. Analysis of the data using analysis in conditions and between conditions. The presentation of the data obtained in this study is in the form of tables and graphs. Based on the results and discussion in this study, the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile (VAKT) method can improve early reading skills, this can be seen from the increasing percentage of scores that occur after treatment is given, namely in the intervention phase and baseline 2 and the small percentage of overlap is 0%. So it can be concluded that the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Tactile (VAKT) method is able to improve reading skills in the three subjects. Keywords: VAKT method, beginning reading skills
