Abstract
Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini yaitu pemahaman konsep siswa yang menurun setelah melaksanakan pembelajaran daring dari rumah dan berlangsung selama 2 tahun, siswa kehilangan motivasi dan semangat belajar sehingga berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa yang menjadi menurun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman konsep siswa setelah menerapkan pendekatan STEAM dalam pembelajaran IPA mengenai materi gaya gravitasi dan gaya gesek dengan tiga indikator yaitu ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa, aktivitas guru dan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan STEAM. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan desain penelitian yang mengacu pada model Spiral yang dikemukakan oleh Kemmis dan Taggart. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat penigkatan hasil belajar siswa pada siklus I dan siklus II yaitu sebesar 45,5% serta aktivitas guru dan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Maka dari itu, pendekatan STEAM dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa terutama dalam pembelajaran IPA di kelas IV SD. ----- The main problem in this research is students’ understanding of concepts decreased after carrying out online learning from home and lasted for 2 years, students lose motivation and enthusiasm for learning so that it affects the understanding of students’ concepts which decreases. This study aims to determine the understanding of students’ concepts after applying the STEAM approach in science learning regarding the matter of gravity and friction with three indicators, namely the completeness of student learning outcomes, teacher and student activities in the learning process using the STEAM approach. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with a research design that refers to the Spiral model proposed by Kemmis and Taggart. The result showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes in cycle I and cycle II which was 45.5% and the activities of teachers and students in the learning process were as expected. Therefore, the STEAM approach can be used as an alternative learning to improve students’ understanding of concepts, especially in learning science in grade IV elementary school.
