Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Dengan diimplementasikannya model pembelajaran MURDER diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui ada atau tidak adanya perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan representsi matematis siswa antara siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajarn MURDER dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experimental design dengan nonequivalent control group design yang dilakukan terhadap 55 siswa kelas VII yang terbagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol di salah satu Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri di kota Pekanbaru. Dalam pemberian perlakuan pembelajaran, kelas eksperimen memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran MURDER dan kelas kontrol memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pembelajaran biasa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu berupa instrumen tes kemampuan representasi matematis. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu: 1) terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang signifikan antara siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran MURDER dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa, 2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang signifikan antara siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran MURDER dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa. This study was encouraged by the low ability of students’ mathematical representation. Implementing the MURDER (Mood, Understand, Recall, Digest, Expand, Review) learning model, is expected to enhance the students’ mathematical representation abilities. This study aimed to determine if there were any differences in achievement and enhancement of students’ mathematical representation abilities berween students who received the MURDER learning model and students who received standard learning. A quasi-experimental design method with a non-equivalent control group design was used in this study, where 55 seventh grade students were divided into an experimental class and a control class at one of the Islamic Junior High Schools in Pekanbaru city. In providing learning treatment, the experimental class received learning using the MURDER learning model and the control class received learning using standard learning. A mathematical representation ability test instrument was used as the research instrument. The findings of this study were as follows: 1) There were significant differences in the achievement of students’ mathematical representation abilities between students who received the MURDER learning model and students who received the standard learning, 2) There were significant differences in the enhancement of students’ mathematical representation abilities between students who received the MURDER learning model and students who received the standard learning.
