Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keadaan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang masih rendah. Pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru dan kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi yang disampaikan menjadi salah satu penyebab rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Salah satu model yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis adalah model problem based learning. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu : 1) Mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional; 2) Mengetahui pengaruh model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen dengan desain non equivalent control grup design, dengan memberikan pretest- posttest kepada dua kelompok pembelajaran pada pembelajaran matematika di salah satu Sekolah Dasar (SD) di Kecamatan Purwakarta. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada siswa-siswi kelas IV dengan jumlah subjek 48 siswa. Instrumen untuk memperoleh data kuantitatif yaitu melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis berupa soal uraian yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan pembelajaran pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu:1) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model problem based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional; 2) Terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini merekomendasi model problem based learning sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi bangun datar persegi, persegi panjang dan segitiga. ----- ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the state of students' mathematical communication skills, which are still low. Teacher-centered learning and a lack of student understanding of the material presented are some of the causes of low mathematical communication skills. One model that can improve mathematical communication skills is a problem-based learning model. The objectives of this study are: 1) to find out the improvement in mathematical communication skills of students who receive problem-based learning models better than students who receive conventional learning; and 2) to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model on students' mathematical communication skills. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design, by giving pretest-posttest to two learning groups in learning mathematics in an elementary school (SD) in Purwakarta District. This research was conducted on fourth grade students with 48 students as subjects. The instrument for obtaining quantitative data is through a mathematical communication ability test in the form of description questions given before and after learning treatment in the experimental class and control class. The research results obtained show that: 1) there is an increase in the mathematical communication ability of students who get problem-based learning model learning better than students who get conventional learning and;2) there is an influence of the problem-based learning learning model on students' mathematical communication skills. Based on the results of this study, the problem-based learning model is recommended as an alternative to improve students' mathematical communication skills in the material of square, rectangular, and triangular shapes.
