Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini yaitu rendahnya keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar. Metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman yaitu metode PQ4R (preview, question, read, reflect, recite, review). Tujuan penelitian untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar dengan menerapkan metode PQ4R. Metode penelitian menggunakan mixed methods berupa pre-experimental design dengan one group pretest-posttest dan triangulation design. Sampel penelitian ini siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 48 orang dari SDN Tonjong I dan SDN Tarikolot I. Instrumen penelitian ini yaitu soal tes kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa, lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara kepada guru serta siswa, dokumentasi, serta catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu: (1) Keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa sebelum diterapkan metode PQ4R tergolong masih rendah, siswa yang belum tuntas mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimum (KKM) terdapat 42 siswa (87%) dan 6 siswa (13%) yang sudah tuntas. (2) Setelah diterapkan metode PQ4R keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa meningkat menjadi 35 siswa (73%) sudah tuntas dan 13 siswa (27%) belum tuntas. (3) Penerapan metode PQ4R memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa dilihat dari penghitungan statistik yaitu sebesar 55,35% yang berkategori sedang dengan koefisien korelasinya sebesar 0,744 dengan interpretasi tinggi, besar peningkatan setelah dilakukan uji N-Gain sebesar 0,54 yang berkategori sedang. 4) Tindakan guru dalam menerapkan metode PQ4R sudah baik. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini bahwa penerapan metode PQ4R dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar. This research is the reading comprehension skills of elementary school students still low. The learning method applied to improve reading comprehension skills is the pq4r method (preview, question, read, reflect, recite, review). The purpose to improve the reading comprehension skills of elementary School students by applying the pq4r method. The results this research is: (1) students reading comprehension skills before applying the PQ4R method still low, students who have not yet reached the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) there 42 students (87%) and 6 students (13%) who have completed. (2) after applying the PQ4R method, students reading comprehension skills increased, there 35 students (73%) had been completed and 13 students (27%) had not been completed. (3) the application the pq4r method has significant effect students reading comprehension skills seen from the statistical calculation of 55.35% categorized moderate with correlation coefficient 0.744 with high interpretation, a large increase after the N-Gain test of 0.54 which categorized as moderate. 4) the teacher's actions in applying the pq4r method have been good. The conclusion in this study that the application of pq4r method can improve reading comprehension skills of elementary school students.
