Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurang aktifnya siswa dalam proses pembelajaran karena metode yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPS di SMP Negeri 4 Cianjur sangat monoton. Metode yang tidak bervariasi menyebabkan siswa kurang motivasi dalam belajar. Hal tersebut menyebabkan rendahnya kemandirian belajar siswa dan akan berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar berupa pemahaman konsep IPS. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini difokuskan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa dan pemahaman konsep IPS. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan sampel satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas kontrol di SMP Negeri 4 Cianjur. Kelas eksperimen diberikan perlakuan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif teknik kepala bernomor terstruktur, sedangkandi kelas kontrol menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) pemahaman konsep di kelas kontrol berbeda secara signifikan , yakni hasil postest lebih baik dibandingkan pretes sedangkan untuk kemandirian belajar tidak terdapat hasil yang signifikan karena skor postes tidak lebih baik dari skor pretest (2) pemahaman konsep dan kemandirian belajar di kelas eksperimen berbeda secara signifikan yakni hasil postes lebih baik dari hasil pretes (3) gain pemahaman konsep dan kemandirian belajar antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol berbeda secara signifikan. Hasil postest kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan postes kelas kontrol. Walaupun perbedaan rata-rata gain untuk pemahaman konsep dan kemandirian belajar tidaklah terlalu besar antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen, namun penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif teknik kepala bernomor terstruktur sangatlah penting untuk menunjang peningkatan pemahaman konsep dan kemandirian belajar. Dari hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu memberikan sebuah alternatif bagi guru dalam meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran agar terjadi peningkatan kemandirian belajar dan pemahaman konsep IPS. The method is not varied causes student less motivation in learning. It leads to students’ low self direction in learning and will affect the students’ learning outcomes in understanding of social studies concepts.Therefore, this research was focused to get an idea of the influence of cooperative learning toward self-direction in learning and understanding of social studies concepts. Method of this research was quasi experiment with a class as experiment sample and a class as control in Junior High School 4 Cianjur. Experiment class was treated with cooperative learning structured numbered heads technique and control class used convensional learning. The results showed that : (1) there was significant difference in understanding of social studies concepts was control class, where postest is better than pretest, but in self-direction in learning there was no significan difference, because postest score was not better than pretest score. (2) In class experiment postest result was better than pretest in understanding of social studies concept and self-directing in learning. (3) understanding of social studies concept and self-direction in learning result has significant difference, experiment class reached higher postest than control class. Even though there was no significant differences between gain average of concept understanding and self-direction in learning, but cooperative learning structured numbered heads technique is importance to support understanding of social studies concept and self-direction in learning. From these research is expected to give an alternatives for teachers in developing the quality of learning process and also in developing understanding of social studies concepts and self-direction in learning.
