Abstract

Dalam suatu instansi pasti terdapat organisasi struktural yang berfungsi agar isntansi tersebut dapat berjalan dengan baik. Organisasi terkecil yang terdapat didalam sekolah yakni berada didalam kelas. Seperti hasil pengamatan hampir semua sekolah yang berada di Bandung memiliki kesamaan dalam struktur organisasinya, dimana setiap ketua murid berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan seorang sekretaris berjenis kelamin perempuan. Hal ini tidak terlepas dari sistem yang sudah ada sejak jaman dulu yakni sistem patriarki. Sistem ini menempatkan laki-laki sebagai pemegang kekuasaan yang dominan. Hal ini pula ditambah dengan kontruksi masyarakat yang memandang seorang pemimpin harus berjenis kelamin laki-laki. namun dengan perkembangan jaman, terdapat suatu gerakan dari kaum perempuan atas penindasan yang dilakukan oleh kaum laki-laki yang pertama kali di negara barat yakni gerakan feminisme. Mereka menuntut adanya kesetaraan gender terhadap masyarakat. Di indonesia pun terdapat gerakan yang dipelopori oleh R. A Kartini yang dinamakan dengan emansipasi wanita. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan teknik pengumpulan datanya berupa observasi partisipasi, wawancara mendalam, studi litelatur, dokumentasi, serta triangulasi. Hasil penelitian ini yakni pertama, terdapat peran gender dalam pemilihan sekretaris kelas. Kedua, ketika pemilihan organisasi kelas, siswa dan guru secara tidak sadar menggunakan sistem patriarki karena mereka menginginkan seorang pemimpin berjenis kelamin laki-laki, dan begitu juga dengan pemilihan sekretaris, mereka menginginkan sosok sekretaris yang tulisannya bagus, rajin, disiplin, dan baik. Itu semua terdapat pada seorang perempuan. Ketiga masih terdapat kontruksi siswa dan guru bahwa seorang sekretaris harus seorang perempuan. Hal ini berlawanan dengan konsep kesetaraan gender dimana laki-laki dan perempuan mempunyai hak yang sama dalam menjalankan perannya dimasyarakat. Keempat siswa dan guru pun belum memahami mengenai gender. Mereka masih menganggap bahwa jenis kelamin dan gender itu sama. Upaya untuk mengatasi hal tersebut yakni perlunya wawasan mengenai konsep gender agar terciptanya kesetaraan gender di masyarakat In an institution there must be structural organisation that works for the agency to run properly. The smallest organisation in school is in the classroom. From the result of the observations almost all schools in Bandung have similarities in their organisational structure, with male prefect and female class secretary. This phenomenon is related to the patriarchy system which has been established for a long time. This system allows male as the holder of power. This phenomenon is also supported by the construction of the society where they think a leader must be male. However, with the times, there is a movement in western countries which was initiated by women in reaction to men’s abuse on women which is called as feminism. They demand gender equality in society. The same movement was also initiated in Indonesia by R. A. Kartini and the movement is called as ‘Emansipasi Wanita’. This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive method and in collecting the data by doing observation on participants, in-depth interview, literature review, documentation, and triangulation. The result of the study shows that first, there is gender role in electing class secretary. Second, in establishing the organisational structure, teachers and students unconsciously applied the patriarchy system to elect male prefect and female class secretary. The reason they decided to choose female class secretary is that female is known as diligent, discipline, and having good handwriting. Third, the assumption that a class secretary has to be a woman is flouting the concept of gender equality where both male and female has the same rights in society. Fourth, it also proved that both teachers and students don’t comprehend the difference between gender and sex. Thus, the society needs to understand the concept of gender in order to create gender equality.
