Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai sebelum dan setelah diberi layanan konseling resolusi konflik dan menguji efektivitas dari konseling resolusi konflik terhadap pengembangan kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai. Metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan untuk melakukan penelitian ini dengan memilih Non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group sebagai rancangan penelitian. 24 orang siswa di kelas XII SMA Negeri Pintar Riau dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini, mereka didistribusikan pada kelas eksperimen (n = 12) dan kelas kontrol (n = 12). Angket yang terdiri dari 36 pernyataan tertutup digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai. Kategori tingkat kemampuan tinggi, sedang, atau rendah digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai. Sementara itu, uji t atau uji Mann-Whitney digunakan untuk menguji efektivitas konseling resolusi konflik terhadap pengembangan kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai sebelum diberi layanan konseling resolusi konflik adalah sedang sedangkan setelah diberi konseling resolusi konflik, tingkat kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai adalah tinggi. Selanjutnya, hasil uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan bahwa nilai U hitungnya adalah 0,000 dengan nilai signifikansi kurang dari 0,05. Juga, ukuran efek dari layanan konseling resolusi konflik terhadap pengembangan kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai adalah 2,922. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa konseling resolusi konflik mempunyai efek positif yang signifikan terhadap pengembangan kemampuan siswa dalam membangun kelas damai. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa guru bimbingan dan konseling dapat menjadikan konseling resolusi konflik sebagai solusi alternatif mengembangkan kemampuan siswa membangun kelas damai. ABSTRACT This study aims to describe students' ability in building peaceful classrooms before and after being given the conflict resolution counseling services and to examine the effectiveness of the conflict resolution counseling on the development of students' ability in building peaceful classrooms. A quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach was employed to conduct this study by selecting a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group as a research design. 24 students in 12th grade of senior high school of Pintar in Riau were involved in this study in which they were distributed to the experimental class (n = 12) and control class (n = 12). The conflict resolution counseling services were conducted in 9 meetings with a duration of 60 minutes for each meeting. The questionnaire consisting of 36 closed statements was used to measure students' ability in building peaceful classrooms. The category of high, moderate, or low ability level is used to describe the students' ability level in building peaceful classrooms. Meanwhile, the t-test or Mann-Whitney test was used to test the effectiveness of the conflict resolution counseling on the development of students' ability in building peaceful classrooms. The results showed that the level of students' ability in building peaceful classrooms before being given conflict resolution counseling services was moderate while after being given the conflict resolution counseling, the student’s ability level in building peaceful classrooms was high. Furthermore, the results of Mann-Whitney test showed that the U value was 0,000 and its significant value was less than 0,05. Also, the effect size of conflict resolution counselling service on the development of students' ability in building peaceful classrooms was 2,922. These findings show that the conflict resolution counseling services has a significant positive effect on the development of students’ ability in building peaceful classroom. It indicates that conflict resolution counselling is an effective solution to develop students’ ability in building peaceful classroom. Therefore, the guidance and counseling teachers or counselors can make conflict resolution counseling as one of the alternative solutions to develop students' ability in building peaceful classrooms.
