Abstract

Penelitian mengenai perwatakan tokoh utama dalam sebuah karya sastra dilakukan untuk membuktikan bahwa keberadaan tokoh utama merupakan unsur penting dalam sebuah karya sastra yang memiliki banyak perubahan dan perkembangan sepanjang berjalannya cerita. Perubahan dan perkembangan tokoh utama dalam karya sastra dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor seperti faktor biologis, faktor psikologis dan faktor lingkungan sosial yang mempengaruhi penggambaran watak tokoh yang terdapat dalam cerita. Penggambaran watak tokoh yang tidak jelas membuat pembaca sulit untuk memahami alur cerita. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, dilakukan sebuah penelitian tentang analisis perwatakan tokoh Samuel dalam roman Kein Wort zu niemandem karya Jana Frey. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perwatakan tokoh Samuel dalam roman Kein Wort zu niemandem, serta mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perwatakan tokoh Samuel. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif analisis dengan mendeskripsikan perwatakan tokoh Samuel yang terdapat dalam roman Kein Wort zu niemandem menggunakan teori tipologi kepribadian Heymans (2007) terdiri dari emosionalitas, proses pengiring dan aktivitas, serta menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perwatakan tokoh menggunakan teori Marquaß (2002) yang terdiri dari karakterisasi tokoh, konsepsi tokoh dan konstelasi tokoh. Proses pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan studi pustaka dan teknik catat. Tahapan analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data berupa sekuen cerita, kemudian mencatat dan mengklasifikasi data sesuai rumusan masalah, lalu menganalisis data serta membuat kesimpulan berdasarkan data yang telah dianalisis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dideskripsikan bahwa 1) Tokoh Samuel dalam roman Kein Wort zu niemandem termasuk ke dalam tipe kepribadian Nerveus dengan ciri-ciri emosional (+), proses pengiring lemah (-), serta aktivitas tidak aktif (-); 2) faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perwatakan tokoh Samuel terdiri dari faktor diri sendiri dan faktor lingkungan sosial. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, analisis perwatakan tokoh dalam karya sastra khususnya roman dapat dijadikan sebagai referensi dalam pembelajaran analisis karya sastra dan penelitian mengenai perwatakan tokoh dalam roman berbahasa Jerman. Research about the characterization of the main character in a literary work is carried out to show that the existence of the main character is an important element in a literary work, that could have changed and develop throughout the story. The changes and developments of the main characters in literary works are influenced by many factors such as biological factors, psychological factors, and social environmental factors. Those factors influence the depiction of the characterization in the story. An unclear depiction of the character's characterization makes it difficult for the reader to understand the storyline. To solve this problem, a study on the analysis of the characterization of Samuel’s character in the romance Kein Wort zu niemandem by Jana Frey was conducted. The purpose of this study is to describe the characterization of Samuel in the novel Kein Wort zu niemandem, and to find out the factors that influence the characterization of Samuel. The research method used is the descriptive analysis method by describing the characterization of Samuel in the novel Kein Wort zu niemandem using Heymans (2007) Personality Typology Theory consisting of emotionality, accompaniment processes, and activities, as well as analysing the factors that influence the character's characterization using Marquaß theory (2002), which consists of characterization of characters, the conception of figures, and constellations of figures. The process of data collection in this study was carried out by literature study and note-taking techniques. The stages of data analysis in this study were carried out by collecting data in the form of story sequences, then recording and classifying the data according to the problem formulation, then analysing the data and making conclusions based on the data that had been analysed. Based on the results of data analysis, it is described that 1) Samuel's characterization in the novel Kein Wort zu niemandem is included in the Nerveus personality type with emotional characteristics (+), weak accompaniment process (-), and inactive activity (-); 2) the factors that influence the characterization of Samuel consist of self-factors and social environmental factors. Based on the results of this study, analysis of character characterization in literary works, especially romances, can be used as a reference in studying literary analysis and research on character traits in German romances.
