Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk melihat bagaimana kondisi minat baca buku nonteks dan literasi geografi peserta didik serta pengaruh minat baca buku nonteks geografi terhadap literasi geografi peserta didik. Penelitian ini didasari oleh rendah tingkat minat baca peserta didik Sekolah Menengah Atas berdasarkan data yang dikeluarkan oleh Reading Performance PISA (2018), Minat baca peserta didik setiap provinsi yang ada di Indonesia masih rendah termasuk salah satu di Jawa Barat dan didalamnya adalah Kota Bandung. Literasi geografi akan membantu peserta didik berpikir kritis dan kreatif dalam pemecahaan permasalahaan secara geografis. Oleh sebab itu peserta didik haruslah memiliki kemampuan menyerap informasi yang baik yaitu berkaitan dengan minat baca peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif survei dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, studi dokumentasi dan wawancara. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah peserta didik SMAN di Kota Bandung sebanyak 131 sampel. Data dianalisi dengan menggunakan uji linearitas, uji korelasi dan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa minat baca buku nonteks geografi dan literasi geografi peserta didik dalam ketegori sedang. Artinya sebagian peserta didik sudah memiliki minat baca buku nonteks. Sedangkan hasil pengetahuan literasi geografi peserta didik di SMA Negeri Kota Bandung berdasarkan temuan dalam penelitian ini berada pada kategori sedang. Kemudian hasil pengaruh minat baca buku nonteks terhadap literasi geografi peserta didik menunjukkan hasil nilai signifikan. Sedangkan nilai t hitung > t tabel (3.241>1.978). Dimana t tabel diperoleh dari nilai df residual yakni 129 pada nilai kepercayaan 5%. Berdasarkan hal tersebut terdapat pengaruh minat baca buku nonteks geografi terhadap literasi geografi peserta didik. Dari hasil tersebut perlu adanya perhatian mengenai minat baca buku nonteks geografi kerana apabila minat baca buku nonteks geografi meningkat maka akan meningkat juga literasi geografi peserta didik dan berlaku sebaliknya. This study aims to see how students’ interest in reading non-text books and their geographic literacy, and also the influence of students’ reading interest in non-text books on their geographic literacy. This research is motivated by the low level of reading interest of high school students based on data released by Reading Performance PISA (2018); reading interest of students in every province in Indonesia is still low, including in Bandung City, West Java. Geographic literacy will help students think critically and creatively in solving geographic problems. Therefore, students must have the ability to absorb good information that is related to students’ reading interest. This research uses a quantitative survey method with data collection techniques by using a questionnaire, documentation study and interviews. The population in this study are students of public Senior High school in Bandung city as many as 131 samples. Data were analyzed using linearity test, correlation test and simple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the students’ reading interest in non-textbook geography books and geography literacy is in the medium category. This means that some students already have an interest in reading non-text books and knowledge of geographic literacy. Then the results related to the influence of reading interest in non-text books on students’ geographic literacy show a significant value, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. While the value of t count> t table (3.241>1.978). Where t table is obtained from the residual df value that is 129 at the 5% confidence value. Based on this data, there is an influence of reading interest in non-textbook geography books on the students’ geographic literacy. From these results, it is necessary to pay attention to the interest in reading non-text books on geography subject because if the interest in reading non-textbook geography books increases, the geographic literacy of students will also increase and vice versa.
