Abstract

Aksara Lampungmerupakanbentuktulisan yang memilikihubungandenganAkasaraPallawadari India Selatan.Macamtulisannyafonetikberjenissuku kata yang merupakanhurufhidupsepertidalamhuruf Arab, denganmenggunkantanda-tandapadabarisatasdanbarisbawahtetapitidakmenggunakantandapadabarisdepan, melainkanmenggunakantanda di belakang, dimanamasing-masingtandamemilikinamatersendiri.Selamainisiswatunanetrabelummemilikikesempatanmempelajariaksara Lampung secarautuhdikarenakanbelumadanyaaksara Lampung dalambentukhuruf Braille.Olehkarenaitu, diperlukansuatualternatiftindakangunamemenuhikebutuhanbelajarsiswatunanetraberupaaksara Lampung Braille sebagaikompensatorisatashilangatautidakberfungsinyapenglihatan.Penelitianinibertujuanuntukmenyusunaksara Lampung dalambentuk Braille yang mudahdipahamidandigunakantunanetra.PenelitianinidilaksanakandenganmenggunakanmetodedeskriptifmelaluipendekatanResearch and Development (R & D). Adapuntahapandalampenelitiandanpengembanganinimeliputi: 1) Tahappendahuluan; 2) Tahappengembangan; dan 3) Tahapujicoba. Teknikpengumpulan data dilakukanmelaluiwawancara, observasidan tes.Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menghasilkan produk berupa aksara Lampung Braille yang dapat dipelajari dan digunakan oleh tunanetra maupun orang awas. Dengan adanya aksara Lampung dalam bentuk Braille, terpenuhinya kebutuhan belajar siswa tunanetra di provinsi Lampung dan menambah aset budaya Lampung berupa aksara Lampung Braille. Berdasarkan kesimpulan penelitian direkomendasikan kepadaguru untuk mencoba mengaplikasikan aksara Lampung Braille pada pembelajaran bahasa Lampung sebagai konpensatoris bagi siswa tunanetra dan kepada pemerintah provinsi Lampung agarmembakukan aksara Lampung Braillesebagai salah satu aset budaya Lampung. Lampung alphabet is a form of writing that has connection to Pallawa and South Indian alphabets. This kind of writing is phonetic and the letters are vowels in type, such as those found in Arabic alphabet, using punctuation marks on the upper and bottom parts but no marks on the front parts; instead, marks are used on the back parts, where each mark has its own name. Until recently, visually impaired students have not had the chance to study Lampung alphabet thoroughly due to the non-existent Lampung alphabet in the form of Braille alphabets. Therefore, there should be an alternative to fulfil this need of visually impaired students in the form of Lampung alphabet Braille as a compensation for the lost or non-functioning vision. The research aimed to arrange Lampung alphabet in the form of easily understood and used Braille for the visually impaired. The research was conducted using dealphabetive method through Research and Development. The stages of this research and development consisted of: 1) Preliminary stage; 2) Development stage; and 3) Testing stage. Meanwhile, the data were collected through interview, observation, and test. They were then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The research resulted in a product of Lampung alphabet Braille that can be studied and used by both the visually impaired and visually abled. With the existence of Lampung alphabet in the form of Braille, visually impaired students’ learning needs could be fulfilled, and the braille adds to the cultural assets of Lampung. Based on the conclusion, the research recommends that teachers try to apply Lampung alphabet Braille in the teaching and learning of Lampung language as a compensation for visually impaired students and that the Government of Lampung Province standardize Lampung alphabet Braille as one of Lampung cultural heritage.
