Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi konstruksi gender pada anak jalanan usia prasekolah. Dengan menggunakan perspektif feminis post-strukturalis peneliti mengkaji secara kritis norma budaya yang diproduksi dan dilanggengkan dalam proses interaksi sosial dan budaya serta relasi kuasa yang bermain di dalamnya. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnografi terfokus di sebuah persimpangan pemberhentian lampu merah di daerah Bandung Tengah, peneliti menemukan bahwa ideologi gender tradisional yang melekat dalam norma sosial dan budaya anak, dibentuk melalui perilaku dan pengetahuan tentang bagaimana menjadi anak laki-laki dan perempuan yang diperoleh dari orang tuanya merupakan pengetahuan dan pengalaman yang didapat dari orang tua sebelumnya. Namun di sisi lain, anak-anak mampu meresistensi dan memperluas makna femininitas dan maskulinitas melalui pengalamannya selama berinteraksi dengan rekan sebaya dan orang dewasa di lingkungan jalanan. Kesetaraan gender sangat perlu diserukan di kalangan masyarakat menengah kebawah dan kaum marjinal seperti anak-anak jalanan, dengan harapan agar hak mereka dalam memberikan suara, pendapat, dan agencynya dalam pembangunan, khususnya di bidang pendidikan yang selama ini masih belum sepenuhnya berpihak pada mereka agar dapat diakses dengan mudah. Kata kunci: konstruksi gender, anak jalanan. ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the construction of gender in street children of preschool age. The researcher critically examined the cultural norms that were produced and perpetuated in the process of social and cultural interaction as well as the power relations that played in it using a post-structuralist feminist perspective with an focused ethnographic approach. The focus was near a traffic stop in the Central Bandung area, The results of this study showed that traditional gender ideology is inherent in children's social and cultural norms, are formed through behavior and knowledge about how to be a boy and how to be a girl that is obtained from their parents whose knowledge and experience was gained from their parents. On the other hand, children are able to resist and expand the meaning of femininity and masculinity through their experiences while interacting with peers and adults in the street environment. Gender equality really needs to be called for among the lower middle class and marginalized groups such as street children, with the hope that their right to have a voice, opinion, and agency in development, especially in the field of education which so far has not been fully in favor of them and cannot be easily accessed.
